*Mercedes (I"m a moron)So... we're doing a simple battery swap. Take the old bat. to the store get the new one. Here's the problem: The battery is kept in the trunk, and we closed the trunk (which is apparently electrically opened) So we have no way to open the trunk. I'm convinced the seats will fold down to give us trunk access but I'm not too sure how to do that. (It's not my car, and my friend is an idiot)I figgure there has to be a mechanical way to open the trunk SOMEHOW, and i've found on some other blogs that the trunk latches are notorious for rusting.. so maybe that's why we can't open it with the key.Anyone have any Ideas!!??![Edited on September 25, 2007 at 4:54 PM. i know that around the 2002 model year the levers to release the rear seats down are inside the trunk

i know that '99 the key has a button on it for the trunk...so put power into the system thru the cig lighter, and hit the button

^ yeah, i was gonna say. give it any sort of juice for a simple push of a button.look for any sort of "hole" in the back seats, you know like where the arm rest folds down so you can store skiis and crap, and look in there and see if you can find the emergency trunk release, it will glow in the dark and just use a rod and try to pull on it.
