Zack Gallifilacfiafankasnkfaisnfkaas is in it, too.

Directed by Sean Penn.

We MIGHT get it at Galaxy. I'll bump this with the info when we get it.

Also, Eddie Vedder composed the soundtrack.

if this thread was about Superbad or some nimrod horseshit with the Wilson brothers or Dane Cook, it'd be 27 pages by now.

^oh fuck thxu! I actually listened to Yield today. And, I heard one of the songs from the ST a while back on public radio.

the intrigue lies in that it's based on true events; a real dude. and the story is pretty crazy.

i read this movie did like half a million dollars in just 4 theaters last weekend.... 4 THEATERS!

That's insane.
$125,000 per screen average is almost unheard of.

Compare that to something like Sydney White that opened in about 3,000 screens last weekend and only made like 5 million.

loved the book, although it annoyed me that the main character was so naive.

I just finished the book. That guy was ridiculous.

Krakauer's book Into Thin Air is better, if anyone is interested in reading his other stuff.

i got the soundtrack

essentially a 30 min eddie vedder solo album...pretty different from the usual...mostly acoustical with things like banjos, ukes and organs thrown in...almost all of the songs are only 2-3 min long

i'd say the single they're releasing,"hard sun", is actually one of the weaker tracks on the album

most of the songs are very strong emotionally and just leads me to continually believe that the problem with recent pearl jam is stone gossard wussing and half-assing it...haha

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did read the book, and as previously mentioned, it was very good. I also read Under the Banner of Heaven, so if you want some good non-fiction literature I would highly suggest reading Krakauer.

I can't wait to see this movie.

Saw it in NYC last week and it was really great. Place was packed, too, and it was playing on three screens at that theater alone. I thought the introduction (first 5-10 minutes) was really poorly done, but the rest of the movie was awesome. Cool story, lots of interesting characters, lots of Galifianakis mumbling. A++ would watch again.

We should be getting it at Galaxy Cinema in Cary on 10/19. I'll post show times as soon as we have 'em.

It's being distributed as an indie film. That's just the way they've chosen to market it. I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up in a fair number of large multiplexes.

^^^ I wish I could get away with only 15 minutes between showtimes...

The showtimes for Into the Wild for the Raleigh Grande are 2:00, 5:30, 8:45.
I believe those times will be the same Fri-Thur.

In case some people care, this movie is about 2 hours 40 minutes (incl. previews)

^^that's weird...
I see online it says the movie is 140 mins (2:20) long,
but in the bookings I got yesterday it says 149 mins...basically two and a half hours
160 mins with previews...

hmm..wonder whats up with that

either
a) the final version is a bit longer than thought, or
b) our booker goofed?

for your sake, I'm hoping we just got the wrong length, if not you guys would have to edit your showtimes or deal with having it start up as soon as it gets out.
I'm kinda hoping its only 2:20... just because long movies can get tough in a movie theater

and the protagonist is forced into an emotional dilemma because he loves the bus, but he must destroy it in order to save thousands of people. A huge battle ensues and in the bus' dying moments he shows a glimpse of his former self and tells the boy that he will always love him just before the boy, with tears in his eyes takes the key out of the ignition for the final time.

just saw it and really liked it. Numerous parts were a bit over-long... really the movie would've been fine at around 2 hours. But, the acting was good, scenery was beautiful, and the Eddie Vedder music was effective

GREAT CONTRIBUTION!

but seriously, you should see it - one of the best movies we've had in a while.

Also: I don't remember Zach Galifianakis being in it.

it wasn't intended to be a "contribution," really.

but i'm flattered you went to the minor trouble to post a pic and add some html to your post.

i can't wait to see it, but i really can't attach Vince Vaughn to that role, still. It kinda bugs me.
