We MIGHT get it at Galaxy. I'll bump this with the info when we get it.Also, Eddie Vedder composed the soundtrack.

fagsif this thread was about Superbad or some nimrod horseshit with the Wilson brothers or Dane Cook, it'd be 27 pages by now.^oh fuck thxu! I actually listened to Yield today. And, I heard one of the songs from the ST a while back on public radio.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 2:18 PM. Reason : rad.][Edited on September 25, 2007 at 2:18 PM. Reason : eh]

eh...it just doesn't look very good.
9/25/2007 2:50:09 PM
have ya read the book?the intrigue lies in that it's based on true events; a real dude. and the story is pretty crazy.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 3:05 PM. Reason : eh]
9/25/2007 3:04:38 PM
^^^^ I really hope you'll get it. Also, are you'll getting assassination of jesse james too. both movies look really great to me.
9/25/2007 3:41:25 PM
i've always wanted to read the book, now i really want to see the movie
9/25/2007 5:32:56 PM
book sucks
9/25/2007 7:10:56 PM
elaborate.
9/25/2007 8:39:25 PM
very great book
9/25/2007 9:09:45 PM
i read this movie did like half a million dollars in just 4 theaters last weekend.... 4 THEATERS!That's insane. $125,000 per screen average is almost unheard of.Compare that to something like Sydney White that opened in about 3,000 screens last weekend and only made like 5 million.
9/26/2007 4:14:46 AM
I read this some years ago, it was intriguing.
9/26/2007 9:29:55 AM
loved the book, although it annoyed me that the main character was so naive.
9/26/2007 9:36:09 AM
I just finished the book. That guy was ridiculous. Krakauer's book Into Thin Air is better, if anyone is interested in reading his other stuff.
9/26/2007 10:06:40 AM
i got the soundtrackessentially a 30 min eddie vedder solo album...pretty different from the usual...mostly acoustical with things like banjos, ukes and organs thrown in...almost all of the songs are only 2-3 min longi'd say the single they're releasing,"hard sun", is actually one of the weaker tracks on the albummost of the songs are very strong emotionally and just leads me to continually believe that the problem with recent pearl jam is stone gossard wussing and half-assing it...haha[Edited on September 26, 2007 at 10:41 AM. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did read the book, and as previously mentioned, it was very good. I also read Under the Banner of Heaven, so if you want some good non-fiction literature I would highly suggest reading Krakauer.I can't wait to see this movie.

i think the main actor is Leonardo decaprio and jack blacks offspringthe wide release date is october 19th. [Edited on September 27, 2007 at 1:22 PM. Reason : d]

I'll probably see the movie this weekend, but I already love the soundtrack.

after a couple listens i kinda get the notion eddie was trying to make springsteen's "nebraska 2"[Edited on October 6, 2007 at 11:32 AM. Reason : it's def better than the last 2 pj albums]

Saw it in NYC last week and it was really great. Place was packed, too, and it was playing on three screens at that theater alone. I thought the introduction (first 5-10 minutes) was really poorly done, but the rest of the movie was awesome. Cool story, lots of interesting characters, lots of Galifianakis mumbling. A++ would watch again. We should be getting it at Galaxy Cinema in Cary on 10/19. I'll post show times as soon as we have 'em.
10/6/2007 7:54:45 PM
Is this film not going to have a nationwide release?
10/6/2007 10:34:10 PM
^ I would assume that since we're getting it, it's nationwide. But it could still be limited release.
10/6/2007 10:46:40 PM
What I meant was, is it going to be restricted to artsy theatres, or will I be able to see it here in Podunk, SC?
10/6/2007 10:50:42 PM
artsy theatres only probably
10/6/2007 11:11:24 PM
Why not more screens?
10/7/2007 12:13:57 AM
It's being distributed as an indie film. That's just the way they've chosen to market it. I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up in a fair number of large multiplexes.
10/7/2007 12:49:22 AM
i think I saw in the paper this morning that north hills is playing a special sneak preview on the tuesday before it opens up wide release. I believe there was an ad in the sports page of the N and O.
10/7/2007 4:02:43 PM
Just got a bunch of mini-posters to give away if anybody wants one.
10/11/2007 3:50:08 PM

10/15/2007 8:46:30 PM
opens friday at the Sundance theatre here...i'll prolly see it next week most likely
10/15/2007 11:24:21 PM
^^^ I wish I could get away with only 15 minutes between showtimes...The showtimes for Into the Wild for the Raleigh Grande are 2:00, 5:30, 8:45.I believe those times will be the same Fri-Thur.In case some people care, this movie is about 2 hours 40 minutes (incl. previews)
10/16/2007 1:01:47 PM
2:20 film + 12 min previews + 15 minutes cooldown/cleanup time. That's how I roll, b.
10/16/2007 2:19:02 PM
reading the book right now
10/16/2007 2:26:58 PM
^^that's weird... I see online it says the movie is 140 mins (2:20) long, but in the bookings I got yesterday it says 149 mins...basically two and a half hours160 mins with previews...hmm..wonder whats up with thateithera) the final version is a bit longer than thought, orb) our booker goofed?for your sake, I'm hoping we just got the wrong length, if not you guys would have to edit your showtimes or deal with having it start up as soon as it gets out.I'm kinda hoping its only 2:20... just because long movies can get tough in a movie theater[Edited on October 16, 2007 at 4:09 PM. Come see it, bitches!
10/19/2007 5:38:07 PM
I read a little bit about this guy. From what I've read, I don't see what makes him any better or more deserving of a movie than any other homeless person.
10/19/2007 6:16:30 PM
or a movie about anything for that matter i guess
10/19/2007 6:24:29 PM
hey lets all go watch a movie about a guy living in a bus!!!!
10/19/2007 6:27:23 PM
BUT THE BUS TRANSFORMS AND BLOWS AWAY HALF OF LOS ANGELES!!!11
10/19/2007 6:28:58 PM
and the protagonist is forced into an emotional dilemma because he loves the bus, but he must destroy it in order to save thousands of people. A huge battle ensues and in the bus' dying moments he shows a glimpse of his former self and tells the boy that he will always love him just before the boy, with tears in his eyes takes the key out of the ignition for the final time.

just saw it and really liked it. Numerous parts were a bit over-long... really the movie would've been fine at around 2 hours. But, the acting was good, scenery was beautiful, and the Eddie Vedder music was effective
10/21/2007 7:31:23 PM
saw it todayi liked the way it wasn't preachycause wellspoilers so i ain't gonna talk about iti already had the soundtrack, but dang...the vedder worked really wellkinda hard to imagine it without it[Edited on October 21, 2007 at 9:27 PM. just got back from seeing at the galaxy and liked it a lot. wish i hadn't already read so much about mccandless earlier this year, but that was before i knew this was coming out so oh well.
10/21/2007 10:40:41 PM
yeah, so, i still haven't had time to go see it.
11/4/2007 2:53:28 PM
GREAT CONTRIBUTION!but seriously, you should see it - one of the best movies we've had in a while. Also: I don't remember Zach Galifianakis being in it.[Edited on November 4, 2007 at 10:05 PM. Reason : ]
11/4/2007 9:55:52 PM
he was one of the dudes that worked with vince vaughn's character. he taught mccandless how to hunt and preserve meat
11/4/2007 10:56:27 PM
it wasn't intended to be a "contribution," really.but i'm flattered you went to the minor trouble to post a pic and add some html to your post.i can't wait to see it, but i really can't attach Vince Vaughn to that role, still. It kinda bugs me.
