We try to go every sunday, but have only been once or twice since school started. I love it. makes me want to live in oakwood so I can walk there.

Yeah we try to go a couple times a week. Our doggie loves it there. Didn't get to go this weekend though, stupid tests.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=oakwood+park,+raleigh,+nc

from the west side of Raleigh, I go up Person street through downtown, then turn right at the Krispy Kreme. park is on the right after you pass the cemetary on the right and the road curves to the left.

I take my dog all the time (Harley, the brindle Husky mix)...

But, don't let your dog drink the water... vet says it's a terrible idea and made my dog sick.

Its kind of hard to make your dog not drink the water, so I usually just fill up a bucket with clean water and put it near where I am sitting, so she will drink out of that. Shes never gotten sick from drinking the other water though.

^^ the dogs there like to put their pairs in the water and dig at it, cooling them off (splashing it on themselves). Subsequently, their paws have been in shit all over the park, the shit gets in the water, dogs come along, drink the water, intestinal warms occur.

Harley had two different types of intestinal warms and because he is an inside dog and I took him to the dog park all the time, this was the most logical reason...

It must also be noted that it is important to be taking the right worm-guard stuff, because apparently, I was told to give my dog the wrong stuff when I got him.

we try to keep the water bucket pretty fresh but i guess there is only so much we can do. penny hasn't gotten sick so far but i'll have to keep a more watchful eye out.
last weekend the dogs kept peeing on the water bucket!

Does the dog have to stay on the leash at all times?

it's an off-leash dog park, you're not supposed to have it on a leash.

I think I'm gonna take my old boy, Ben, out there later today.

How does it compare to Millbrook Exchange Park's dog park? If no one answers, I will answer my own question here later. STAY TUNED!

I am so glad that one is open!! haven't been yet, but it is so much closer than Oakwood and you don't have to drive through downtown!

oakwood was bumpin today... I guess a lot of people hadn't been able to exercise their dogs during the rainstorms so had brought them all out to the park today

We went to the Carolina Pines one. It was nice, much closer to our house. I didn't like the mulch they had there, it basically just a bunch of sticks.

are you not supposed to have your dogs on leashes there either? what if your dog fucks another dog and gets it pregnant? seems like kinda not a good idea...
