^at state they search for college parties, in my opinion searching for parties to break up is bs. I don't think this will come to raleigh just because the size of the city. The police can just focus on college parties since they know which complexes have parties all the time (plus they get more money if were busted). It needs to go back to were someone has to complain before the police make a raid or they should just set up a road block close by if they're concerned with drinking and driving.[Edited on September 18, 2007 at 4:46 AM. I really wouldn't mind my kids drinking by the time they are in high school so this seems like a waste of resources to me. Then again, I favor education and life experience over misinformation and false assumptions.[Edited on September 18, 2007 at 11:24 AM. Reason : s]

In highschool, the city police had myself and some other kids pretend to execute a terrorist plot on a middle school. They had to chase us down, find us in hiding places, and basically maintain the commotion they let us cause.it was fucking awesome.

officers are enforcing the lawunderage drinking, driving and driving is illegalI'd be happy if my tax dollars were supporting patrols and programs like this. I wish they'd set up speed traps and DUI checkpoints/stops in my neighborhood every weekend.[Edited on September 18, 2007 at 12:01 PM. Reason : and the problem is...?]

Raleigh police already suck when it comes to parties. Don't give them more reason to power trip over busting parties I was at a party a few months ago and the cops got called. Ok, fine. But they didn't give a warning or anything... this one scrawny RPD comes alone and starts power tripping like crazy! He told everyone that if they didn't leave they were going to get arrested and started requesting IDs from everyone. So, all these obviously drunk people start fleeing in their cars. When a small group of people told the cop they had called a taxi and were waiting, he went apeshit and took them over to his cruiser for a good 20 minutes. Apparently, RPD works together on things like this... other cops will park nearby to catch those who are leaving the party intoxicated. Anyway, my point is... the whole thing was handled in the worst way imaginable. Grrr RPD.

yeah, a good thing would be to stop being asses about drinking on campus. It's like, drinking at college isn't gonna stop, at least the kids drinking in their dorms aren't on the road hurting anyone.

I think it is all politics. The police chief and various other officials are trying to make good public face trying to illustrate that they are doing their job in order to get re-elected. So in order to cover up REAL problems in our community that have not improved they use underage drinking as an out. They can take a minor issue and blow it up and say that they have worked hard to STOP underage drinking (insert bullshit statistic here). Thus getting the approval of the older (more likely to vote) population.Meanwhile real issues are getting overlooked. This is kind of like a smaller version of what happens in the federal level. Politicians blow a minor issue out of proportion in order to distract the populace from real issues. For example "Gay Marriage" as a hot button issue in the 2006 elections trying to downplay problems in Iraq and the economy. Or Nixon's "war on drugs" to take the heat off of domestic issues and the ongoing Vietnam war
