I'm heading over to Duke on Thursday afternoon for a seminar. I'm hoping to meet up with a friend who just started working at Duke for a couple drinks or maybe dinner. Any recommendations for where to go over there? We are trying to figure out where to meet, but neither of us know that area.

i can only comment on the couple places i've been over there

Tyler's Taproom is a nice place to have a couple good beers, but the food has ranged from shitty to good. Great place to sit outside, though.

Another Thyme is a nice spot, but a little pricey...the menu is online.

Just drive over to Bright Leaf Square. There are a ton of different restaurants/bars. A few good ones that aren't very pricey are: Satisfactions, Torero's, Down Under Pub, and The Federal.

I don't know how close to Duke it is, but City Beverage has good food and a good beer selection...

Or the tobacco district next to the DBAP. In addition to Tyler's (lots of beers on tap, plus pool tables in the back), there's also Symposium.

Ninth st. right by Duke. Elmo's Diner, George's Garage, Blue Corn Cafe...mmm mmm! These are just food places...dunno about their drink selection but here ya go
