discuss. It was featured in september's issue of Diesel Power Magazine. I love the engine, but the paint scheme screams for attention.

Probably because it's geared to tow M1 abrams tanks while it's roaring down the track.

That thing is sick.

^6x weight/tuning/gearing/suspension, etc. that's just a street truck more or less with a hella drivetrain.

this is how it should be in the 1/4:

9.56 @ 142, DHRA Pro Street e.t. and speed record, fastest street truck (diesel).

http://video.competitiondiesel.com/video/c1dad5ba-ee7b-4a07-bc2f-996b018890cf.htm

featured in october issue of DP magazine. Utilizes a big single turbo with nitrous, and supposedly has around $4000 in the motor

^what I wonder is, if it's a blatant show of smoke whilst driving into the inspection station, is there some regulation for "excessive smoke/particulate" emission that would be an immediate inspection failure?

Reminds me of a suburban I saw a few years back on the intranet that had smokestacks coming out of the roof. Something like 2k HP.. absolutely nuts.

Well now I suppose I'm going to have to find a P7100 pump.

Actually, next step will be to get the 16cm^2 turbine housing. I was thinking about going with the 14, but I've heard that it actually impedes exhaust flow to the point of elevating EGT's. I seriously think the engine will run a little better if the turbo comes online a little faster and generates a little more boost.

I think they spiked it @ around 25psi this weekend, but for the most part highs were around 21-22.

Of course, if we wanted for things to get a little more freaky, I do have a an old TO4 sitting around at my parents' house, but in all reality, it ain't gonna do a lot more without the P7100 or propane. -I was thinking sequentials.

[Edited on October 22, 2007 at 6:58 PM. Reason : turbos, man. got-damn turbos.]

if you're serious about really building it, compounds are the only way to go imo. the hybrid housings are good to a point, and a cheap alternative. there are guys doing compounds pretty cheaply though using the stock turbo. several people on tdr and dtr have done it.

you've still got a good 10-15lbs. left in that holset. you need fuel, man.

how were the egt's this weekend? that was a pretty good load. 12-13k probably.

^^ go for it... and if you do, I'd like a heads up on the development of the build if you go the route of sequential turbos and the P7100 pump. be good info. reeeaaalll good.

most of these fuckers ive seen with 1000+ horsepowers are running a stage of nitrous b/t the turbos as well.

and then you have to start worrying about the $$$$

EGTs were probably consistently 1100 deg. according to what Matt said. This was @45 to 50 mph. They spiked it to 1250 or so is what he said.

I definitely think we're not fueling aggressively enough at steady-state. And of course, with the AFC diaphragm on the pump loosened up a bit, we're fueling a bit aggressively on initial acceleration, but it's nothing that boost doesn't take care of within a few seconds.

Does anybody have boost maps published for the Holset H1? How about the various trims and A/Rs for the different years?

^^yep. they're feeding such a ridiculous amount of fuel, nitrous is almost a must to get a good burn.

^that's a little on the warm side unless they were really pushing it. probably should get a BHAF on it now that you've got more fuel, that'll drop the temps some.

i'm sure the compressor maps, differences, etc. are out there... though i can't recall anywhere specifically. search those two boards and i bet you'll find something.

Evidently, Holset guards that information viciously. Nobody's got it that I can find. And most boards I've been to have remarked about it. But then I haven't spent a whole lot of time on it yet.

BHAF means fabbing an air box of sorts. I'm a lazy motherfucker, but hey, maybe I should explore this a little more.

^^^^ Yeah, Olee is a really cool guy, very knowledgable about diesels too

my sisters boyfriend gets all of his gear through him, always has top notch stuff at good prices. The thing i like the most about him is how not flashy he is... other than the exhaust poking out and the a pillar guages, you wouldnt know he has done anything to his truck... thats how i like it
