bar thread or buy an ad
9/8/2007 4:16:15 AM
There was a shooting outside of The Brewery Friday night. There was a hip hop show going on, and there were no problems all night. Near the end of the show, some people in the parking lot got into a shoving match and then someone went to their car and got a gun. A couple of people involved in the argument got shot - one in the hand and one in the groin area (so we were told). This is why so many clubs stop doing hip hop shows.

Sounds like they need to ban tailgating
9/8/2007 8:46:59 AM
^hahaor just black people and wiggers perhaps?
9/8/2007 9:00:40 AM
They just need to ban people from being in the parking lot for more than five minutes. Then things like this would never happen
9/8/2007 10:22:01 AM
good luck enforcing that
9/8/2007 11:11:12 AM
It was the farmhouse....i was eating across the street at Pizza America. They had the whole farmhouse area taped off with CCBI and tons of cops.

^^Lincoln Theatre management?
9/8/2007 5:01:38 PM
@ TheBrewery: So I guess you all aren't doing any more hip hop shows now either?
9/8/2007 5:06:53 PM
I'm not sure. We either stop doing most of the hip hop, or we have to beef up security to the point that most hip hop promoters probably wouldn't want to take the financial risk of renting the room for a hip hop show. Extra security means more overhead. Our main concern, though, is safety. So if that is what it takes to do hip hop shows, then that is what we will do. But as of now, my staff doesn't even want to work anymore hip hop shows. We've had three altercations worth even mentioning in three-and-a-half years. All three happened on a hip hop show. So... we'll see.

It happened in the alley between Farmhouse and The Brewery. But the people involved had been at a hip hop show at The Brewery. Nothing happened inside of either establishment. Everything was outside.
9/8/2007 6:44:28 PM
if ur gonna stop hip hop shows cuz of violence u better cancel metal shows before kids ill there parents or comit suicide
9/8/2007 6:48:45 PM
^neither of those things happen at the show thus removing The Brewery from liability.are you retarded?
9/8/2007 6:51:23 PM
r u retarded enuf to not realize that im implyin blamin the music for someones actions is a pathetic copout?
9/8/2007 6:55:37 PM
If you only have violence with one type of show, you might just decide to stop hosting that type of show. It's fairly reasonable.
9/8/2007 7:09:06 PM
so if a serial killer listened to opera wood we blame pavaroti?
9/8/2007 7:15:17 PM
If there was a much higher chance for serial killers to show up at the now-deceased Pavarotti's show (such that his was the only show we've ever had any problems with), and the proponents and organizers of the show were unwilling to pay the required fees for increased security at their event (as mandated by the individuals hosting the show), then we would stop hosting Pavarotti's show.Keep trying to twist this though.
9/8/2007 7:22:40 PM
y not just put the blame wear it belongs? with negroes and poor people
9/8/2007 7:23:43 PM
i'm thinking about buying an ad for farmhouse - what do you guys think? ]]
9/8/2007 7:30:05 PM
Go to the farmhouse instead... And then you can get hit by the ricochets.
9/8/2007 7:36:45 PM
Practically EVERY bar worth going to has a 1, 2, 3 night... That does not set them apart.
9/8/2007 10:05:10 PM
I don't know of any in Winstonbut then again, I'm not sure there are any bars worth going to
9/8/2007 10:11:22 PM

9/8/2007 11:08:58 PM
I can't say I've ever considered it a place worth goingbut I'm not sure whether they're open again or not
9/8/2007 11:13:17 PM
Well, without knowing what you do and don't like, I can't really mention anything besides what I know is there. I never went there, but I had some friends that liked it.

9/9/2007 8:13:50 PM
Stereotypes exist for a reason
9/9/2007 9:58:06 PM
It's unfortunate but depressingly true. The hip-hop shows I've worked at Katmandu generally had fewer fights than most, but the ones that did start were more intense and much harder to break up. I don't really like the precedent, but I can see why it made good sense for them to quit having that kind of event.
