thread title was just for attention, I don't think that would be a good idea. However, I think what tww should do is this.1. Choose a new group of mods who are only mods for a couple months tops.2. All current mods remain mods but become much less active, they keep an eye on the temporary mods and step in if things get out of hand ie a new virus, one of the temp mods doesn't sign in a long period of time, etc.3. Temp mods can only be removed if all the mods (or at least the overwhelming majority) agreeReasons: Current mods are tired of bullshit on this board and have a tendency to overreact or have a knee jerk reaction to something and lock a thread without giving it much thought. Essentially, they need a break.Temp mods would only be allowed to lock threads and suspend users for 3-5 days, anything longer would require permission of one of the main mods. Also if one of the temp mods goes on a power trip and starts suspending a lot of users, he/she is terminated or suspended for a long time[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 2:36 PM. Reason : a]

k this will be in place tomorrow. sign up here for temp-mod status. first come first served.
9/7/2007 2:38:00 PM
that kind of response is what causes many of complaints on this board
9/7/2007 2:39:05 PM
This would result in CHAOS.and I dont think joe/jake are gonna modify code to make "temp mods" with privileges for a couple months.
9/7/2007 2:40:47 PM
im on here all the goddamned time now and know what tww should behook it up]

you only have 27k posts.you surely cannot moderate.[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 2:41 PM. Reason : minimum is 150k]

Standard Moderator privileges in the wrong hands for even 5 minutes could result in a shitfuckington of damage cleanup by a "main mod"There would be no simple way to "restrict them from suspending more than 2-3 days" without significant development.
9/7/2007 2:49:21 PM
Termination of temp mods who abuse powers, don't pick temp mods at random, have them legitimate users who have been here awhile.Lets the temp mods know they have to unsuspend people after 3-5 days.
9/7/2007 2:50:41 PM
your plan creates a lot of red tape, and MORE responsibility for the main mods.
9/7/2007 2:53:14 PM
It creates more oversight and less responsibility for the main mods if good temp mods are chosen.[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 2:55 PM. Reason : a]

haha, bureaucracy is always the answer. just ask the federal government how that worked out for them.
9/7/2007 2:55:33 PM
So you want to fix the "problem of over-modding" by doubling the number of mods on the site.are you some kind of republican?[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 2:56 PM. Reason : lol]

I'm not trying to flame you, dude. I'm just telling you that this is most likely a waste of time. Not to mention I think your logic is flawed.

you guys sure do complain a lot about the little thingsa lot of users need to take that "break" from TWW. Just a little walk outside....perhaps hang out with some real people for a bit. Hell, go to a bar and get crunk. It's just funny to me when people accuse the mods of never going outside...and having no life except for TWW....when it just so happens the majority of the complaints come from people that are on TWW all the time

Here is a thread about Ruckus that got overlooked in the mass lockdown. /message_topic.aspx?topic=403456Granted it has not been going for almost a full two years, it is a bar thread and since its not contained in that one thread in the lounge should hit the trash can under the new rules that are going to solve all of TWW's problem.s

RE: orig postThat's a horrible, horrible way to approach the problembut i do think there needs to be some mod housecleaning.i've tried and tried to convince people to leave things the fuck alone to the greatest extent possible, but some just don't get it, and they aren't going to get it. They aren't shitty people, necessarily, and they aren't shitty TWW posters, but they're not the right people for the job on this particular website.People wonder why it isn't as cool as it used to be, and why new membership doesn't seem to be very high, and they blame it on people being dicks, "racist overtones", etc...I'm pretty sure it's mostly because we moderators are just stifling the shit out of it.We don't exactly need a whole staff of "do-nothing" mods...while CassTheSass does ok mostly by doing next to nothing (by the way, post pics, i hear you're hot ), we can't have all of us doing that. however, i see no reason for any of us to be more heavyheaded or intrusive than, say, marko.[Edited on November 19, 2007 at 12:41 AM. Reason : TWW is such a nanny-state nowadays compared to a few years ago.]

haha, ill tell you this, duke, since you dont live around campus now and since you were pretty much quoting what i said in the mod forum.i have friends that are still in school and my GF works on campus. if TWW ever comes up in a conversation you should hear all the negative things said about THIS websitei will tell you 100% that people dont join b/c of the trolls, dicks, sick shit and bigots. The very high percentage to click on a thread and see a bunch of horrible pictures, disgusting porn and racial slur after racial slur turns people off; not this "heavy handed" moderation you are referencinggirls wont post b/c of the creeps and the harassment - cant blame themnew people dont want to be associated with all the racists and bigotry - cant blame themif you think TWW is moderated so heavy handed then you dont visit enough forums. TWW is by far one of the least heavily moderated forums in regards to the amount of site traffic.has the moderation came more frequent, of course it has...things change.if nael & cdc want to clean house...then good for them. its their site and they can do what they want with it. when jackleg went on a mission to clean up the racial overtones i dont remember you guys getting all up in arms about it and I think it was a fantastic idea.i know i dont want to be associated with a bunch of bigots]
11/19/2007 9:07:22 AM

11/19/2007 10:49:59 AM

when there was next to no moderation, TWW was booming.granted, certain things should be moderated... like vile and disgusting pictures, etc, but when people freak out because there are more than one vaguely similar threads... even though they might be weeks old... that's overkill.
