So somebody in the parking deck scuffed my bumper (99 Honda) and it will need to be sanded and repainted. Can somebody give me a quick price range as to what I can expect when I call up some shops tomorrow?

Or you could just buy a new one from certifit for $32.75. Your call.

(I just looked it up.... http://www.certifit.com)

I think you can get it in the right color.. if not it should come prepped for paint and should still be cheaper than paying to sand.

Yep, it'll come in the right color, as long as the right color is the color of raw plastic.

Do you want it blended into the surrounding panels so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb? No matter how good the guy mixing the paint is, and no matter if it's been optically computer matched, you're going to notice a contrast if you just paint the bumper.

The smallest amount of paint I used to be able to mix was either a pint or half-pint, depending on what application and what system I was mixing. For factory colors, you can lay out 50 dolla for that much. Sometimes more. Then there's the cost of the hardener, flex additive, activator, reducer, and then whatever the clearcoat requires.

And then there's labor and shop fees.

You probably can find somebody to paint the bumper for a couple hundred. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

I'm 100% sure that they don't come in the color you want. Not at that price.

Don't forget that they are NOT prepped to paint.

That goes for the steel body panels, too. That matte black paint that's on them needs to be properly scuffed and sealed prior to topcoating. Because it's just there for corrosion inhibition.

the car is the darker blue color you see on a lot of Hondas

and it won't just buff out, it scuffed it but also went through a few layers of paint in spots, so it's going to start peeling

you niggers think you can just "sand it and repaint"...

you gotta repaint the whole bumper, not just the spot.

its gonna be more.

better off just getting one from the junk yard the same color

It can be done for around 200, just had a friend get a few scratches taken care of and you can't tell it was scratched. The painted the spot and buffed it.
