we have time warner high speed super boosted connection and is actually slower than the normal connection. also, even though i have 97% signal strength i wont have an internet connection. my room mate has 99% signal strength and never has an internet connection. it is really a pain in the ass because you will have internet for about an hour or so and then it will drop out for an hour despite the signal strength.

any ideas on what could cause this or that could fix this would be awesome.

I'd start by updating the firmware for your router and the drivers for your wireless cards.

i need more info. do you have a hard line connection. if so i'd just put one of those $40 linksys adapters on there for wireless and be done with it. OR are you stealing the wireless connection ?

no, we have a wireless router and all have wireless cards in our computers...however, even the Xbox (which is wired in) drops out when our wireless does.

if time warner supplied your wireless router, call them and have them fix it.

on any of your computers, go to a web browser and go to http://192.168.100.1

look around the pages until you find the signal strength and SNR

lemme know what they are.

Do you have encryption enabled on the wireless router? Are you sure that you're connecting to YOUR wireless router?

Could be that your TWC connection itself is shitting the bed. Wouldn't be unheard of. Dads new house did the same thing for a while, until they found out it was an issue on the switch at their end. His shit would run great and this just crap out all of a sudden and be dead for an hour or so. Wired and wireless.

mine does this all the time. has for the past 2.5 years. not sure if its the modem or something on the back end, but its the most annoying god damned shit ive ever experienced.

i had to go buy a wireless card for my desktop cause my internets go out so often. now i can just jump on my neighbors when it does.

at home, they had to run a new line from the box a the street to my house because it would drop randomly

the difference in the old cable and the new was about .5" of shielding and insulator

fixed everything
