I don't think it does 1080p.

Well, when I plug my xbox 360 into it, 1080p is one of the selectable options.

Update: I asked my room mate (who uses the tv much more than I do) about it, and he says he only sees the option up to 1080i on his 360 through hdmi. I saw 1080p through component. So I guess it does digital up in 1080i only, but does analog in 1080p.

I invite you to come see for yourself.

*edit*

I took pictures of the screen for both my 360 and my room mates 360 on the tv

My Xbox 360 w/ component cables:

My room mates Xbox 360 w/ hdmi

notice how on mine 1080p is an option, but on my room mate's it's not. I don't know how to explain this other than how i explained it before

1080p is not possible over component. You have to have HDMI to get 1080p. Also, the "Recommended Resolution" is 1366 x 768, meaning that anything you put on the screen is going to get up/down converted to that.

Alright guys, I guess I'm sorry I thought this tv could do 1080p since it was a selectable option on my 360. My bad. Anyways, if you aren't interested in buying it please don't post in the thread.

nobody is trying to keep you from selling your tv. we are just posting the facts about its display capabilities so an interested buyer knows what they are getting. what the xbox 360 outputs does not define what your tv can do. my xbox says i can output to 1080i, but the native resolution is 720p (just like yours) so thats the setting i use so there is no downconverting.

ha, I already have a pm bid of $400 so you'll have to do a little better than that.

PS my previous comment was not directed towards your DirtyMonkey. I like that you cleared up the issue. I don't want to try to sell something I don't have. It was comments like these "ha ha ha, that tv is not good" that I didn't want in the thread.

Um... my XBox 360 outputs in 1080p over component and my 1080p native TV accepts the signal and identifies it as 1080p.

Component 1080i is the max that AACS will allow over component.

If I understand correctly, that means games will play in 1080p over component, but BluRay/HD-DVD will not.

Alright, let me clarify as I was a bit misinformed and unclear about 1080p over component. Here is an excerpt from an IGN article (that is a little old, but hopefully is accurate) that came out when Microsoft first mentioned output in 1080p:

Quote :
"
The other connections capable of carrying an HD signal (and the only ones currently supported by the Xbox 360) are Component and VGA. Both are analog connections, which means that they can't support HDCP / AACS. They are also subject to interference if the cables run too close to masses of power lines. The really big problem with Xbox 360's lack of HDMI support, however, is the that only a limited number of 1080p-capable HDTVs can accept the signal via analog inputs.

What does this mean? Basically, HDTVs use a fair amount of circuitry and processing power to decode incoming signals before displaying an image on the screen. Because HDMI has long been planned to be 'the connection' for HD signals, most manufacturers have built 1080p HDTVs that are only able to accept 1080p via HDMI. Consequently, only a few 1080p capable HDTVs support 1080p signals via Component connections, which are generally restricted to 1080i. A few more 1080p HDTVs will accept an analog 1080p signal via VGA, but often only with the addition of a VGA-to-DVI dongle. To put it simply, trying to work with 1080p without HDMI is very difficult.

So, LimpyNuts I guess your TV is one of the few (maybe 'few' isn't accurate anymore) that accept 1080p over component, but like GraniteBalls said you wouldn't be able to watch HD-DVD's on a 360 player over component.
