When windows xp loads, the normal network login comes up, pw and login name are entered, the windows sound boots up, but i can not get any desktop icons or start menu


basically you can not access anything, nothing on the keyboard toggles anything

i boot in safemode under the admin login and i can see everything fine....


am i going to have to do a system restore or is there any advice that you can give me

any serious help would be appreciated

hit windows+r, type msconfig. if you can bring that up disable everything in the startup list

maybe run a chkdsk

i figured it out about 3 minutes before you posted that


it was a virus


microsoft.exe

removed it and it works fine now
