I have those up front would I notice a big change if I put 215/50/17 H-rated in the back?

all it is saying is that there is a difference in speeds between the 2.

and you arent going to be anywhere near those speeds with that car (or with any car for that matter) around raleigh or wherever you are, unless you drive on a oval track.

so its ok.

Hmm actually now that I am looking at the description of the tires I am getting, "Goodyear® Eagle RS-A - P215/50R17 90V EGRS" is the 90V the speed rating?

V is, 90 is not. 90 is how much weight the tire can support (its no 90lbs, its like 1500lbs or something, i dont really know the ratings off hand)

so your 4 tires with the rating of 90 equal a certain lbs.. and the weight of your car should be within that range (of all four)

I'd look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position as a replacement tire. It's cheaper than the OEM Michelins, and will grip better and likely be quieter.

Of course you have the Kumho Ecsta SPT as a performance tire that's a very good bargain in that size.

Its not the rating thats changing the tire price but rather the type of tire and manufacturer.

Michelins always are on the expensive end of tire cost. Check the Acura forums for recommendations by other TSX owners for good all season tires.

if there is a minimal price difference between 215 and 225. go with the wider tire.

i'd get h rated tires all around, they'll last longer.

michelin just came out with the 'primacy mxv4' which carries a 60k mileage warranty - which doubles what you have now. Likely you have the MXM4 which doesn't carry a mileage warranty but people usually get 20-40 depending on driving style. Its also possible you have the energy MXV4 which carries a 30k mileage warranty. Both the primacy and energy mxv4 are available in h/v ratings. The H rated tires tend to run 20-30 dollars less per unit.

Well I don't think I drove it too hard, The alignment was out and it caused it to wear too much in one area. Also got a nail in one tire.

i consider it a waste of money if i get less than 50-60k miles out of a set of tires, adn thats with a lot of rolling burnouts, the last set on my truck made it 82k miles before i took them off, and someone else is driving to colorado on them right now

In that size not many tires are going to last longer than 30k miles, period. As far as michelins are concerned in that size there is probably the pilot exalto as which is warrantied for 45k and maybe the primacy mxv4 which is warrantied for 60k. Other than that you're pretty much SOL for tires that are going to last longer than 30k unless you keep them perfectly aligned, rotated, balanced, and drive like your dead great grandmother.

I have kept them rotated and balanced, and got an alignment at 16,442 miles. So I am not sure why they got worn so badly on the inside. So at 21,682 I am getting them replaced. Much rather do two at a time than all 4.

looked into it today and I was right. You can also get the yokohama as430 which has a 60k mileage warranty or we sell a sigma regent touring (made my cooper) that carries a 70k mileage warranty and was buy 3 get 1 free in the month of august. Other than those and the michelins you don't get any mileage warranty which usually means 30k or less.

^ Manufacturers are coming out more and more with low profile / high performance sizes from the factory. They're also putting a lot of HP/UHP tires on them which make the car drive great (hence you buy it) but people don't realize it until they hit 15-20k miles and their tires are gone. Happens all the time with cars you wouldn't expect it from in the past - mostly mazda and honda.
