This weekend, I had the best martini I've had to date - which I think we can probably hold the conversation that I've had a cocktail or two in my day.....

Key lime martini - different than any other one I've ever had b/c it even had the vanilla/crust taste - little taste of alcohol - and knocked you on your tush.
Was made with : Licor 43, Lemon & Lime juice, stoli vanil & a dash of cream.

Another new fav is a dulce de leche martini......

SO.... Aside from the traditional - what are some of YOUR favorite martinis, and what's in 'em?

In cancun they make these awesome peach martinis, got me hooked. Although I feel like a pussy ordering one. But they are amazing.

Just about any resturante makes good strawberry martinis.

^ You could drink martini's until you pass out every day until you die of liver failure and NEVER use that much vermouth.

Dirty refers to adding olive juice to the martini, not vermouth...

the amount of vermouth determines the dryness of the drink (the less vermouth, the more dry it is)

Don't get me wrong, I buy them for friends often, but I always get the bartender to write HOMO or PUSSY on it with chocolate and then give it to whichever guy is drinking like a bitch that specific night.

One time I even got them to draw a chocolate stick figure fucking another chocolate stick figure in the ass. If I find the pictures I'll post them.

Regardless, its a total bitch drink and you are less of a man for liking it.

I tried a basil martini in cleveland. Sounds disgusting, but it was unbelievable.

Shaba Shabu has a sake-tini that sounds weird, but is amazing (if you like sake). It comes with little slices of cucumber it it. First you taste the cucumber, then the vodka, then the sake. Yum

I dunno what's more gay: The person drinking that martini, or the person who thought about the figure stuff at a bar.

How about the person who doesn't realize that its the gayest cocktail ever and jumps into a martini thread yelling "Mint martinis! YUMMMMM!"

There's really only 1 recipe for martinis.

- 3 parts gin
- dry vermouth to taste (usually 1 part or considerably less depending on taste. If I'm making one it's usually swirled in the glass and then dumped out before pouring in the gin.)
- olives

anything else isn't a martini. There are other drinks that go by the same name, but they aren't martinis. That's like saying, "I want a rum and coke, but with bourbon and pepsi instead, oh, and ad a lemon wedge." The only remotely acceptable change is to substitute vodka for gin.

Chocolate martini? Mint martini? Bullshit!

What every martini menu should be:

Quote :
" Martinis:

Your choice of gin.
With one olive.
With two.

"

I had a Pineapple Martini at Sullivan's that was very tasty. They claimed to have soaked a pineapple in vodka for 7 days, then use that juice with of course more vodka to make the drink. If you like pineapple, you'll love it. And no, it wasn't too sweet either.

Cinnamon Appletini

2 parts goldschlager
1.5 parts sour apple liqueur (or non-alcoholic sour apple mix)
2 parts sweet/sour mix

You can adjust the apple and sweet/sour mixes to your liking.
I know goldschlager doesn't seem like it would make a good martini but it really is good.
