Yea, I'm an A's fan as some of you know... but have followed the Reds closely all season due to Hamilton (and B. Phillips fantasy baseball wise).

I know it's a stretch, but anyone think the Reds can make some sort of noise down the stretch? Only 6.5 behind the Cubbies and they have won 6 in a row.

8-2 in their last 10 and they are about to start a series with the Pirates while the Cubs/Brewers beat up on each other.

That divsion is a damn disgrace so I'm not saying ANYONE is out of it yet... For fucks sake the division winner last year was only 4 games over .500 and the leader right now is the same.

They got swept last night in a double header against the Pirates. They usually kick you out of the league when that happens.

Also they are now 11 or 12 games under 500.

they playoffs don't come down to luck, but he's right, in baseball they're a pretty shitty way to determine a champion

the hottest team always wins, and the hottest team is almost never the "best" team

it's usually a wild card or a team like the cardinals last year -- someone who was in a race until the very end

the best teams have their division wrapped up by early september and pretty much take the next month off, ruining their world series chances

i hate the playoffs in baseball -- i wish they could say forget about small market revenue, get rid of the divisions, and just have the two pennant winners play for the series

they could drop five teams or so in the process, god knows there are too many
