I know there are some metal fans out there. I saw a hip hop appreciation club so me and my friend got to thinking, why not start one for metal. We've got enough members to start it everything will be done sometime soon. If you're interested just send me a message or something.

Hey, Im walls' friend who is starting this club. You can also message me about joining, or even if you arent really sure what metal entails. to hellbound: im not really sure i would consider nickleback metal...or hard rock even for that matter, but if you are interested in the club we would be glad to have you sign up. I am glad you made the mistake of saying nickleback was metal though, part of this club is going to be educating people about what exactly metal is. I think many people would be surprised to hear what is and is not really considered metal. Metal is a very interesting genre of music and the club intends to explore all the various subgenres of it, and highlight some of the particularly good bands. So if you like discovering new music this club is definately for you. If you want some more information about what is metal. You can ask me or Walls. I would also suggest watching the headbangers journy on VH1 (sounds stupid, but its actually quite informative).\m/

how can one claim what is "metal" and what is not?i mean isn't it relatively subjective? and what point do you draw that line?"dream theater is metal""no, they are prog""system of a down is metal""no they are rock-hardcore""my chemical romance?""punk pop rock""sepultera?" "maybe 15 years ago they were"i mean it's a little too grey to say what is and what isn't metal... although the nickelback joke never gets old.

Not gonna knock music other people enjoy, but i'd still encourage anyone/everyone who's interested to watch that documentary. Theres a lot of music out there thats written for the sake of the music and not necessarily to be sold to a certain demographic. The whole genre thing is bullshit, but the level at which bands stick to one general style isn't. Regardless metal isn't about arguing its about rocking out.Hmm, or you could just wikipedia it because thats the definitive answer anyways. lol[Edited on August 27, 2007 at 8:32 PM. Reason : .]

theres a metal bar down the street from my apartment called Lucky 13.its kinda like the Brewery but without all the metalcore douches.
8/27/2007 8:42:26 PM
Lets say I'm new to the area. How would i go about finding lucky 13 assuming googling 'lucky 13 raleigh metal' led me nowhere and i didn't know what street you lived on.

Yeah, metal is definately subjective. I was talking in generalities, but I wasnt trying to piss anyone off.If you join the club and want to have debates about what exactly metal is, that would be very educational and helpful. But thanks for pointing out my mistake. \m/[Edited on August 27, 2007 at 8:59 PM. Reason : used wrong word]

^^ oh i live in brooklyn but some people get upset when you flaunt that you live there.so I didnt mention it.

What the hell will this club entail? You guys will just sit around and listen to metal, and then critique it, or something? You should make it even more narrow to specify it as a power-metal only club. Then I would join, only to inform you all that Evanescence is not power metal.
8/27/2007 10:24:26 PM
yea i love metal but i dont really know that you could make much of a club out of it :/maybe a specific message board for people at nc state that listen to metal might be more useful for you i dono

Like anything else, its whatever the group makes of it. Anything can come from this, transportation to concerts, support for local bands/venues, and yes discussion, but in order for anything to be possible, we and anyone who is interested, should have ideas about what they want to do, otherwise- yes it would be pointless.

Hey Chappy and Walls###Go to Aries Lounge on wednesday nights. Its metal night. DJ'd by the drummer of a fucking badass local metal band, and full of serious local metalheads. Almost all of which are very cool guys. And btw...making a "metal club" implies some kind of exclusivity. Go to the aforementioned bar on the aforementioned night and hang out. You'll get your metal fix. [Edited on August 28, 2007 at 12:24 AM. Reason : ]
