same as the other but for the REAL baseball league.Best pitchers as in right now:1) Peavy2) Webb3) Young4) Penny5) Hudson6) Zambrano7) Oswalt8) Hamels9) Francis10)Harang[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 4:33 PM. Reason : John Maine and Noah Lowry were the other 2 I considered]
8/23/2007 4:32:03 PM
I think Maine and Lowry belong in the list.Webb has been sick as of late... I was rooting for him to beat Orel Herschizer's (I know spelled in correctlY) record.
8/23/2007 4:40:51 PM
so do you think the yankees will buy the padres pitching staff during the offseason?
8/23/2007 4:42:28 PM
they'll ship arod to the padres for their pitching staff
8/23/2007 4:45:38 PM
I'd put Hamels over Zambrano and Swap Hudson for Young
8/23/2007 4:46:05 PM
Make your list then, that is just my list.I like seeing what people think.
8/23/2007 4:48:29 PM
Do you mean for the 2007 season or right now. If right now, then you have to drop both Young and Hamels because they are hurt. Also where the hell is Smoltz on this list. He is Top 10 in a number of key pitching stats.Ben Sheets and Carpenter deserve mention on the hurt list too.Lincecum is working his way up...[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 5:05 PM. Reason : Smoltz to replace Francis]
8/23/2007 5:03:39 PM
not a bad listhow about Dontrelle? too inconsistent?ps: lol at the "REAL baseball league" comment
8/23/2007 5:04:12 PM
well the NL makes pitchers accountable for any shit that they deal by having to bat themselves. for a while pitchers like clemens and pedro could hide behind their DHs
8/23/2007 5:08:38 PM
^and they also get to pitch to other pitchers who bat .122 instead of DH's like david ortiz and 9 legit batters every inninghence why the AL always seems to win the all star games and interleague games[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 5:11 PM. Reason : but anyway back on topic...]
8/23/2007 5:10:43 PM
Well being the big Cards fan that I am....I left Carp off since he has not pitched this year.Sheets stays hurt but is good when healthy. Honestly I didn't even think about Smoltz, just that Hudson seemed to have a better year to me.[Edited on August 23, 2007 at 5:14 PM. Reason : Francis is doing what nobody else has ever done for Colorado, he belongs IMO]
8/23/2007 5:13:47 PM
^^^^i'm thinking dontrelle isn't on the list because of his ERA of 5 this year...
8/23/2007 5:21:11 PM
^that would do itsome games he does look nasty thoughLincecum for NL Rookie Pitcher of the Yearimagine how fast he could throw if he started using roids...or even weighed more than 160 pounds

harang is wayyyyyy underratedhe plays in a hitters park and for the reds and is 12-3. The guy avgs almost a K an inning
8/23/2007 11:22:41 PM
A healthy Smoltz is top 5.
8/24/2007 1:26:10 AM
JOHN SMOLTZhes not as good as he once was but hes as good once as anybody in the NATIONAL LEAGUE
8/24/2007 10:50:01 AM
is that why he had a 42 inning scoreless streak like Brandon Webb? no cause he's over the hill and he's not a top 5 pitcher any more
8/24/2007 10:54:21 AM
^ He's not top 5, but he is a top 10 pitcher in the NL. He deserves to be on that list.
8/24/2007 11:47:46 AM
I think your missing one of the most consistent pitchers this year Ted Lilly has been solid and better record than alot of those guys (13-6, 3.88)
8/25/2007 4:02:25 PM
^One fluke year doesn't mean anything. I should know just look at Jason Marquis when he was with St. Louis. One year he looked like Carpenter and then the next he looked like Kip Wells. Plus as good as he has been I think only Francis on my list has a higher ERA than he does, but then again he pitches for Colorado.
8/25/2007 4:55:39 PM
Ted Lilly? wtf? Are you serious... A 3.88 ERA is supposed to be impressive? THREE Mets starters have ERAs better than that and 2 of them by a full half point or more. Also, I'd have both Perez and El Duque on over Maine for consideration. Really El Duque has easily been one of the Top 10 despite his W/L record (only 8-4 but the Mets are 15-6 in his starts). He has a crazy low BAA and his ERA is under 3.00 as of this second...[Edited on August 25, 2007 at 5:04 PM. Reason : cant sleep on lincecum either...]
8/25/2007 5:00:57 PM
And I... have 4 of your original list on my fantasy team right now. My pitchers are totally kicking ass.And Ted Lilly? What the hell are you thinking dude? He won't last.[Edited on August 25, 2007 at 5:27 PM. Reason : Ted Lilly]
8/25/2007 5:26:51 PM
I have Webb, Young and Oswalt... but I also have Delgado and Bill Hall in my everyday lineup at two prime positions V starters only I'm sure... but I gotta have Webb above Young. Webb has dominant stuff and I like that stuff over a soft tosser like Young... and next year Pedro will be on that list [Edited on August 25, 2007 at 5:47 PM. Reason : xc]
8/25/2007 5:44:21 PM
god dammit people1. Jake Peavy2. Chris Young3. Brandon Webb4. Aaron Harang5. Brad Penny6. Takashi Saito7. Tim Hudson8. Cole Hamels9. Billy Wagner10. John Smotlz
8/25/2007 5:45:34 PM
You'd be better off making a list of SP and RP. But if you have to combine them...1. Peavy2. Webb3. Young4. Penny5. Zambrano6. Harang7. Smoltz8. Hoffman9. Saito10. Wagner
8/25/2007 7:22:17 PM
cole hamels 1-10.
