Anyone had him? Im wondering if I should add this course. My only reservations are this will put me to 19 credit hours, and Im also taking BCH 451 and MB 351/352. Is this not a good idea? I heard this class is one of the easist A's, but how time consuming is it? What type of assignments does he give/grade? Tavaloki's section doesnt fit my schedule so I can only take Wiggin's. Im a senior and trying to boost my GPA, but I want to make sure I leave enough time to study for my difficult courses (BCH 451!) and make A's in them! So should I attempt to add this course or not?

take ithis exams are open-book and open-notes, but they are mostly just common sense questions, just use your notes for the buzz wordsfor class he gives you about 20 mins of notes, then you just watch a 30-45min video and thats itno out of class work, except 1 paper and 1 powerpoint (which you dont present, you just email to him)one of the easier classes at state and hes a pretty good teacher

Took IDS 201 w/Tavakoli online this summer and it was verrrrry easy (no studying at all). I am going to assume the class is just easy in general and it does not matter who teaches.

DannyBoy is pretty dead on with his assessment. it also needs to be noted that the paper and powerpoint are not very involved...the ppt maybe a couple hours and the paper could be anywhere from 1 - 10 hours (depending on if you actually read the book or not...reading the book is definitely not necessary). grading on these things is extremely slack...my roommate wrote a terrible paper and got an A+. this same roommate got 2 out of 10 questions on the midterm correct and still got an A+. i enjoyed the class and its especially enjoyable if you take it with a couple of friends who you can laugh about class stuff with afterwards.you should take it...its really like you're taking 17 hours (IDS201 is about the workload of a slack 1 hour class), not 19

Has anyone had the in-class section w/ Tavakoli?

The class with tavakoli is a joke. There were about 14 or so online quizzes on the readings from the book. The midterm was to go back and redo a quiz and the final was to go back and redo 3. Also 2 short papers and a group presentation. The whole semester was basically a bunch of groups presenting each topic in the course. The class is worth taking just to listen to him talk about himself and tell a bunch of funny stories.

I have the book (Global Environmental Ethics by Pojman) and will sell it for $20. I bought it used for around 40, I think, this past summer when I took the class online.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 4:23 PM. Reason : added more info]

definitely take wiggins - thats exactly what i had last semester with him - 19 hrs - it worked fine cuz i only had to write one paper and do a powerpoint on any topic - and some weeks we didn't even have class - the only bummer is that its at night but its an easy A so its worth it
