Looks pretty good to me, but then I don't think he's really done a movie I have disliked. The only danger I see is if its all just cheesy parodies of other movies.

I'm down with Paul Rudd as John Lennon, Jack White as Elvis, and Matt Besser being involved at all, but I'm still not sure about this as a whole.

from jenna fischer's blog:

Quote :
"I don't get naked in the film. I should probably say that. But I do showcase the ladies quite a bit. I had to be sewn into most of my costumes to make sure they were as tight as possible. My wardrobe assistant's main job was making sure my boobs didn't fall out. It was hilarious. I would see her across the room starring at my chest all day."

Quote :
"Getting to work on this film was a dream come true. I got to access a whole other side of my personality. I'm normally pretty shy when it comes to skimpy outfits and all that. I am certainly more Pam Beesly than I am Darlene Madison but it was cool to channel my inner Darlene for a change. I may not run around in raunchy outfits ( I think you know my uniform of hoodie and baseball cap) but I do have a dirty/dark sense of humor. I loved that I didn't have to censor myself in any way on the set. We were pretty crazy. We basically just made COX jokes all day. I was in heaven.

I had the hardest time not laughing during the scene where John Reilly and I stare and one another while we...um...how do I say this...provocatively eat ice cream? I literally could not walk more than 3 steps without losing it."

i'm pretty pumped about seeing it

Circuit City has a bunch of DVDs this week that are 3/$25, and some of these include movie cash to see Walk Hard for up to $10.50 (I think they included Talladega Nights, Click, Monty Python and the Holly Grail, Ghostbusters/Ghostbusters II, and a few others). Of course I went into the CC in Cary Sunday and didnt see any of these with the cash, so YMMV.

one of the commercials has a quote from wireless magazine. (ie the magazine that doesn't actually exist and is only around so that its one writer can provide positive reviews for shitty movies.)

I'm going to see this tonight. Hopefully the best parts of this movie weren't in the previews like Talladega Nights.

^^^^ He's not an actor. He's motherfucking JACK WHITE.

Anyway, I have no interest in this at all. Sure, it's got funny folks in it, but the concept isn't any better than Date Movie.

this movie was WAY better than I expected.

Keep in mind my expectations were low. I thought this was going to be Judd's crew first miss, but it was pretty awesome.

Worth watching. Lot's of laughs. Seriously, I thought the previews weren't that great, but the movie was hilarious.

unfortunately not doing shit in the box office either. maybe by next weekend the word will get out that it is good stuff.

I saw it and was pretty disappointed.

Hopefully it's one of those flicks like Zoolander that gets better with additional viewings.

Saw it tonight, definitely funnier than I thought it would be. It had some of those unbelievably stupid parts kinda like Anchorman. I could definitely see it being quotable after watching it a couple more times.

^ Dunno, I actually walked out afterwards and I thought that the problem was that it was too much like Talladega nights.

I was expecting something more clever after all of the ads for it.

Be prepared for dealing with full frontal male and female nudity, including several folks you really really for the love of fucking god did NOT need or want to see without clothing.

What??? The "fake band" genre has given us some of our finest cinema! Spinal Tap and The Blues Brothers come to mind.

I heard on the radio how the they did a ton of research to make sure the instruments and amps were historically correct. I respect that. Not like Back to the Future where you know you could never hear an mic-less sax over a 50's electric guitar. Haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm planning to.

it's a cute movie. not as funny or quotable as anchorman or zoolander. the beatles and the bob dylan scenes are the definite highlights. i don't know if it's worth the full ticket price, but it's definitely worth a watch.

Yes, but both of those concepts are completely different from this one. This is Spinal Tap isn't scripted, for one.

As for the period-correct guitars and things, that's nice, but unless you're just completely off or nitpicking ("OMG it's 1972 and that Strat has slug polepieces instead of staggered") it's not hard to sufficiently keep up the illusion for the average viewer.

With that said, the whole point of using the saxophone as the solo instrument in early rock 'n' roll was that it could cut through (over and through are two different things) even with amplified guitars. The whole point of the amplifier was for a guitar to be able to be cut through with a regular band.
