for the price he wants for this tv (which is about 1200 in the store right now) that should not matter[Edited on August 16, 2007 at 1:47 PM. Reason : asdfa]

shouldn't matter? i'm just watching peoples back so that it doesn't crap on them the very next day. it would suck to have $400-$500 down the drain. at least if you have the reciept you know if you have any of the factory warranty left and that it can be fixed. not sure exactly if you need the receipt to be under warranty but it's the peace of mind that counts.

you could always call the company with the serial number
8/16/2007 1:52:10 PM
well i've always wondered that....since your official warranty period starts the day you buy it how does the company know when it was bought? when the retailer scans the box does it go to the companies archive that a certain tv is bought? or does your warranty start when you register the product?

everytime i have every called somewhere about a replacement part or an issue with a computer, just gave them the service tag or the serial number and shazzam! that was all they asked for. also, register your products, that really helps you if you ever need some help with it.
