So I just installed my HD box today and I'm getting sound but no picture. And I'm still learning about all this hdmi and component stuff so bare with me lol...

Everything is ran through my receive, my sony receiver has 2 hdmi inputs
-the ps3 is plugged into one of the inputs and there is a hd cable that runs from the receiver output to the TV
-the hd cable box is hooked up to the receiver via component

I assume that the receiver is supposed to spit out all output through that one hdmi cable for the TV?

the hd box is working fine because it displays the time and I can hear sound, but I see no video.
all the component cables are matched up with their proper color/ports...

any help?

Thanks!

plug it into the tv using RCA (yellow, white, red). Then go into the menus, then enable hdmi, then plug in hdmi port, then it will work

its really fucking dumb the hd box doesnt just plug and play

Uhm, many receivers (mine included) do not convert an analog signal (your component cables from the TWC box) to digital (the HDMI cable going from your receiver to TV). If you want to run your TWC box through your receiver, you either have to use HDMI all the way, or run component cables from your receiver to the TV, as well as the HDMI cable.

damn that's unfortunate, I really wanted to avoid using that last hdmi input for my hd box, i wanted to save it for my future xbox 360 elite, lol...and I didn't want to have to go through using a hdmi switch box...but it looks like I might have to..I'd imagine the component cables should work right? I mean the there is sound, just the video is not displaying, so maybe it's some other issue?

Yeah, I'm sure it will work fine. I have my PS3 and TWC box connected to the HDMI inputs on my receiver, and my Wii connected to a component input. I then have an HDMI cable and a set of component cables going from my receiver to the TV. You'll have to switch inputs on your TV, but other than that, it's never been a problem.
