I've actually watched some of his past couple games, cause I want to see the tying HR.But yeah, he'll hit it once I stop watching.
8/4/2007 10:41:52 AM
dear users with less than 1000 posts...DO NOT MAKE NEW THREADS IN SPORTS TALK
8/4/2007 10:58:45 AM
then stop watching so it'll be over and done with...think of poor pedro gomez. that poor leech hasnt seen his family in a year at least.
8/4/2007 11:33:57 AM
Speaking of Pedro Gomez, I'd like to see his doppleganger Taylor Hicks fill in for him from time to time.
8/4/2007 12:04:23 PM
so hows his first at bat tonight?
8/4/2007 10:21:18 PM

roids ftt
8/5/2007 12:09:56 AM
MLB should get together and walk him every single time he comes up to bat.I know it won't happen but wouldn't that be hilarious if he didn't even get the chance?
8/5/2007 12:13:20 AM
8/5/2007 12:19:34 AM
^lol thats great
8/5/2007 12:39:08 AM
^^ lawl
8/5/2007 1:10:49 AM
The pitcher he hit it off of was suspended once for steroid use as a minor leaguer.
8/5/2007 9:28:25 AM
I dont follow baseball at all but i can only imagine ruth didnt face NEAR the pitching competition modern guys do.Its like old NFL players who claim 20 sacks in one game (before their was a tracking statistic).
8/5/2007 9:31:23 AM
and not to mention hitting homeruns takes focus and concentration which steroids reduce.
8/5/2007 10:36:44 AM
^^ Ruth played when the strike zone was the letters to the knees. I will argue that he infact had less to hit because the strike zone is much smaller today. Also, the balls and bats were not nearly consistant (like hitting a 90 core pro-v1 golf ball today as opposed to what Jack and the boys hit in the past decade)
8/5/2007 11:03:46 AM
Fuck everything else....Bonds wife is fuckin beau-T-ful
8/5/2007 11:06:48 AM
When it comes down to it, Ruth was a legend and has some of the greatest statistical accomplishments of all-time. You can make a great argument that Ruth was better than Bonds in historical context based on his era...But it's asinine to think Bonds isn't the better baseball player. That's like taking a world class sprinter from the 1930's and throwing him into the 100m race next Olympics. Not only could he not compete with modern day athletes, he probably couldn't qualify to participate in the event.[Edited on August 5, 2007 at 2:54 PM. Reason : a]
8/5/2007 2:53:15 PM
well you gotta watch out for some of them modern day runners cause they on roids too
8/5/2007 3:21:40 PM
Fact: Ballparks were smaller in Ruths day
8/5/2007 7:15:06 PM
Fact: equipment is better in Bonds daySee what I did there?
8/5/2007 7:30:28 PM
8/5/2007 8:28:20 PM
Fact: Before Babe Ruth came on the scene, the home run record was 27 in a single season. From wikipedia:
8/5/2007 9:16:53 PM
8/5/2007 9:33:01 PM
So the game on ESPN2 is blacked out because we are in a Nationals market. The game is on MASN. Of course, TWC doesnt carry MASN. So assuming he breaks it tonight, no one on this end of the state will see it.Not that I care about Bonds, but its still history, and gives me more reason to hate Time Warner.
8/6/2007 10:28:53 PM
^ just watch ESPN/Baseball tonite. They are supposed to shows Baroids at bats.
8/6/2007 10:35:32 PM
lol the nationals have a marketand we are in itlol
8/6/2007 10:47:40 PM
Raleigh is in both the the Nationals and Orioles MarkeyHere in Charlotte, we're in the Nationals, Orioles, Braves and Reds Market
8/6/2007 10:51:10 PM
right now ESPN and ESPN2 are running the exact same feed, with about a 1 second delay between the two. it's pretty entertaining to switch back and forth and hear people repeat themselves
8/6/2007 11:13:34 PM
New rule in MLB. What ever armor you wear at bat you should have to keep it on to run the bases. None of this bullshit that you wear protective gear then take it off when you get on base.
8/6/2007 11:17:52 PM
i wish this shit would be over
8/7/2007 9:05:53 AM
why is everyone bitching about Ruth in this thread? Ruth never hit 755 home runs.
8/7/2007 11:26:50 AM
Ruth did it on hot dogs & beer]
8/7/2007 11:28:00 AM
and small ball parks and amphetamines and natural pitchers. Who gives a shit? Ya'll act like Bonds is the only juicer in the sport, despite the fact that the majority of the pitchers he faces are jacked up on HGH and amphetamines. The entire playing field has been elevated up a notch since Aaron's day.[Edited on August 7, 2007 at 11:32 AM. Reason : and Ruth did not "do it" on hot dogs and beer. He didn't get close to 755.]
8/7/2007 11:32:15 AM
Ruth was too busy pitching 20-win seasons and hitting 56 homers while 2nd place in the league hit 17You cant compare players of different eras but Ruth dominated his era like nobody else
8/7/2007 11:34:27 AM
Ruth shouldn't even be in this discussion. If you want to argue the merits of Aaron vs. Bonds then go for it. Otherwise your argument is about as pointless as Cal Ripken Jr. vs Bonds or Ted Williams vs. Bonds.
8/7/2007 11:46:15 AM
you're right...how dare i even mention Ruth's name when talking about Bondsbut as far as Aaron vs Bonds...Bonds WILL NOT catch or pass Aaron's all time RBI record]
