getting Verizon FiOS next month and they claim 30Mbps, but we'll see. Also comcast is building an all fiber optic network in my county now -- outside DC.

it's great for internet speed - horrible for cable - their digital cable interface is horrible compared to TW

Not as good on Cox in Baton Rouge, LA. But at least I tested 3 Mb faster than the ISP average.[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 7:54 PM. Reason : -]

thanks, i missed that thread b/c i never visit ChitChat... yeah, actually i've noticed a difference in interface going from Arlington, VA to Denver, CO... i liked the one in Arlington better, then again I had the digital DVR there too, but since i use a media PC i don't have to deal with it i do like TWC's cable tv interface as well (had it when i was in CLT) but i've heard that comcast's digital voice is better.i guess you win some you lose some.[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 8:11 PM. I'm using Comcast here in Huntsville, AL and I have no complaints about the internet. I'll agree with the digital cable interface though, it SUCKS compared to Time Warner. I'm hoping that when I get a HDTV next month and I upgrade my cable box to HD/DVR it will be a better interface.

My comcast on screen menu here in the DC area is great. On the same level as TW.[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 9:56 PM. Reason : I have hdtv+dvr maybe that's why though.]

i have the hd+dvr in ATL - maybe some of it is to being new to it but i don't think sowhen you push play after fast forwarding it stops right where you pusehd play - time warner would backup a few seconds because they had the foresight to know that humans don't have a 0 second reaction time - thankfully at least they added a 30 second rewind button on the remote the dvr interface is pathetic - whenever i record a show once my dvr is full it reminds me every time that it's full...if you push the up and down arrows when scrolling through the guide - you hit an advertisement every single time - you have to page up/down (which i do most times but come on)those are the ones i think of because they happen somewhat often - i'm sure there are a few more i'll probably think of when i come across them again
7/30/2007 10:17:37 PM
oh yeah, I have those same issues. I guess I left TW before it got really good.

A lot of that has to do with the fact Time Warner put a shit brick ton of money into platform development.Comcast/Cox/several others just licensed a package. It really is garbage in comparison.
7/30/2007 11:03:07 PM
Comcast is a shittier company than TimeWarner. FIOS is the best, if you can get it, but Verizon is still awful.Monopolies suck

i don't know of another company that can give me 18Mb for $42/mo.... (granted that's not standard though) and i beg to differ, comcast is much better than TWC in the internet realm, and dare i say Customer Service as well. I've had 2-3 standard service calls to Comcast and everyone has responded nicely and promptly... I never had that with TWC... verizon on the other hand i've never had a problem with them either, and 15mbps/2mbps for $49.99 ain't half bad[Edited on July 31, 2007 at 1:33 AM. Reason : .]

TWC SUCKS. I get maybe 40-45 kB/s upload with the fucking cap. Pisses me off. They'd rather you buy thier hosting services so i assume that's why they cap the upload so low.

^^too bad it's not at home. I'd like that ~400kB/s upload. Although in broughton i've seen 40k download, and 8k upload.[Edited on July 31, 2007 at 10:10 AM. Reason : .]
