OK so do I chemically strip the clearcoat, wet sand it, or what? I didnt know the damn things were clearcoated and I wanted to have them all polished up by Tuesday...

???
7/30/2007 1:06:16 AM
haha i've made your ass confined to the garage...shits hilarious
7/30/2007 1:09:24 AM
say what retard boy?
7/30/2007 1:14:08 AM
lol i just wanted to post something i knew you would reply to in a timely fashioncarry on, fattie
7/30/2007 1:14:54 AM
aircraft stripper + sand paper.
7/30/2007 1:17:52 AM
huh? why do you need sandpaper if you use aircraft stripper??
7/30/2007 1:37:33 AM
to smooth it out after u scrap the clearcoat/paint off.
7/30/2007 1:48:02 AM
most paint stripper will pit/stain the aluminumi would go with wet sanding, 320 to take off the clear coat, followed by 400, 1000, 2000, rubbing compound, then aluminum polish
7/30/2007 9:43:21 AM
aircraft stripper is the way to go.[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 3:15 PM. Reason : gotta let it sit for like 30 mins before u scrape off.]
7/30/2007 3:11:22 PM
if you want some fucked up rims
7/30/2007 3:15:45 PM
you're obviously not well rehearsed in this matter.[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 3:19 PM. Reason : ]
7/30/2007 3:17:55 PM
anyone ever heard of blue beacon?its some 18 wheeler truck wash i worked at once...we had to cover aluminum sometimes cause there was something that would stain it that we used
7/30/2007 3:18:33 PM
im actually trying aircraft stripper at the moment, have a few minutes to goi sure hope it dosent fuck up the wheels, they are kinda rare actually
7/30/2007 7:40:12 PM
7/30/2007 8:06:35 PM
looks like it didnt fuck up the rim. this is oldschool high quality german alloy, its been rinsed and is drying now, ill examine it in a lil while. if its good, then its time for the secret weapon.
7/30/2007 8:23:49 PM
man this is the hardest clear known to man, mothers still wont black up nicea little test with the 320 grit took it down though.
7/30/2007 10:27:47 PM
i think im gonna need beadblasting
7/30/2007 11:28:32 PM
light it on fire.
7/30/2007 11:51:18 PM
i tried, it just laughed at me
7/30/2007 11:54:00 PM
i bet it won't laugh at gas.
7/30/2007 11:57:07 PM
i huffed all the gas tho
7/31/2007 12:02:08 AM
so hows it working out? how long did u let the aircraft stripper sit? also 400 grit is good to use.
7/31/2007 12:20:10 AM
are you trying to mirror polish these things? i can get finer grit media for my cabinet, 120 leaves a fairly rough surface, but i'll do a scrap piece and bring it to wings tomorrow night and see what you think
7/31/2007 12:23:58 AM
^^ 45mins plus^ do that. the "spokes" need to be as nice as possible, but its more important that all 4 match
7/31/2007 12:47:54 AM
so apparently the aircraft stripper isnt working, thats a surprise what kind of faggot ass faggot would suggest that?oh yeah, ONE THAT DOESNT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HE'S TALKIN ABOUT
7/31/2007 12:56:06 AM
RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 69
7/31/2007 12:57:07 AM
RUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF 69
7/31/2007 12:59:28 AM
7/31/2007 12:59:35 AM
7/31/2007 1:02:30 AM
i do know what i'm talking about seeing as have i have completed this many times as have countless others...let me see what did you have to say about it...at least one false comment and an advertisement for your cabinet. oh yes you are so wise.
7/31/2007 1:04:24 AM
not an advertisement since joel is a good friend and is welcome to use my machine shop anytimeand i still don't see where the aircraft stripper has worked, as a matter of fact, it hasnt even penetrated the clearcoat, so my statement isn't disproved since it hasn't contacted the aluminum yet dumbass, point is your idea doesnt work, i called you out on it, and joel proved it
7/31/2007 1:06:43 AM
apparently you still haven't realized that you have not called me out. Just because one person fails to complete something the way many others have doesn't mean the technique is wrong. I can't believe im even explaining this to you...oh wait...
7/31/2007 1:08:50 AM
so explain what he's doing wrong, you put the aircraft stripper on the wheel, wait and scrape it off? where did he fuck up?sounds like it just didn't fucking work[Edited on July 31, 2007 at 1:12 AM. Reason : no rebuttal? thats what i thought bitch]
7/31/2007 1:10:03 AM
obviously it sounds like it didn't work. To strip powder coated/clear coated aluminum rims you wash the rims, apply the aircraft stripper and let it sit for about 30 minutes, scrape it off with something like a plastic knife, wash rims again, sand with 400 grit paper, and profit. carb cleaner in replace of the stripper also works depending on the rim. Some ppl prefer to just spray the rim others soak it in a tub...[Edited on July 31, 2007 at 1:19 AM. Reason : sorry i was eating...didn't know you were waiting.]
7/31/2007 1:16:55 AM
7/31/2007 1:31:58 AM
ok well i've stated the process/facts and you've given your opinion on the matter so as far as i'm concerned with you and this particular thread it's/threadthis is just getting ridiculous since you're carrying your discontent for my comments in kyle's thread into here.^perfect example of how u further demonstrate your ignorance.[Edited on July 31, 2007 at 1:41 AM. 7/31/2007 1:40:03 AM
I've tried aircraft stripper before and it definitely took the paint and clear off of my rims. The aluminum was pitted quite a bit, and I assumed it was like that under the clear. I guess it could have been from the stripper...
7/31/2007 7:08:34 AM
^ my point exactly
7/31/2007 9:36:06 AM
pissing contest
7/31/2007 10:39:04 AM
8/1/2007 12:55:18 AM
what the hell are these for?
8/1/2007 1:05:27 AM
ok heres the wheel as taken off the car, aircraft stripper (safe for alum.) didnt phase the clearcoata bare (virgin) "spoke"VERY lightly wetsanded, with 320hit with the 220 grit on the black and decker sander, then hit slightly by hand with 320fully done, taking about 30 minutes of heavy handwork... finished up to 400 grit wetsandingLESS THAN TWO MINUTES LATER, after using the secret weapon...see the differences...[Edited on August 1, 2007 at 1:10 AM. Reason : ok]
8/1/2007 1:07:54 AM
entirely too much effort for that car.
8/1/2007 1:53:03 PM
get some spinner hubcaps from wally world ftw
8/1/2007 1:54:25 PM
8/1/2007 2:22:03 PM
yeah its definitely too much effort, but i cant think of a faster way
8/1/2007 2:54:58 PM
i have a 1970 opel and it has like the same rims on it, what kinda car are those off of?
8/2/2007 11:48:37 AM
