wtf are you building a bomb?
7/28/2007 11:47:19 AM
hah.well... just installing a chip in my Wii
7/28/2007 11:47:49 AM
lowes/home depot sells stuff off the roll. dunno about anything that small though. pep boys has an average selection of pre cut lengths of wire too.
7/28/2007 11:48:50 AM
edit:pep boys is a no go.the highest radioshack had was 24... now, that may be small enough, but ima try go get some 30.[Edited on July 28, 2007 at 11:56 AM. Reason : ]

true. you can usually request to talk to someone in a specific department though to get a quick enough answer. whether it'll be right or not, who knows. they might have some small/low voltage stuff that's used for alarm systems, irrigation, etc.i'm really surprised radio shack doesn't have it.
7/28/2007 11:56:24 AM
ima look around the house.my pops does lotsa computer work. im sure we got some kinda scrap somewhere. i just hope i can tell if its 30g.
7/28/2007 12:12:19 PM
Why are you looking specifically for 30g? Is that what the instructions are calling for?
7/28/2007 12:13:47 PM
yeah. WiiKey says 30g is recommended. Ace has 28g and 32g.. not sure why they dont have 30g.but i may just go with 28g
7/28/2007 12:22:21 PM
7/28/2007 7:30:47 PM
they dont. had to hit up ace for 28 gauge.but i need insulated.
7/28/2007 7:50:50 PM
you'll probably need to order it from a place like digikey, blackbox, mouser, newark, etc.
7/28/2007 9:50:17 PM
digikey, allied, maybe partsexpress...you can order a small roll of it...
7/28/2007 9:50:42 PM
why do you need exactly 30g? I know that's what they say they reccomend but you could use 0awg in place of 24awg as long as you can fit it... unless they have some super specific resistance which is highly doubtful.
7/28/2007 11:47:51 PM
you can special order it from radio shack, they normally have 24, 28, and 32 i had to get some insulated 30 from there to rebuild the gauges on my old mustang and they were able to get it for me
7/29/2007 12:48:41 AM
7/29/2007 2:23:55 AM
and divide it in half
7/29/2007 10:11:34 AM
u don't have to use wire that tiny i ended up using around 16awg for my mod job.
7/29/2007 11:49:43 PM
I've got some wire that's so small it looks like thread. I used it years ago to make an inductor. I don't know what size it is but you're welcome to some/all of it. Only problem is I'm in Charlotte. You're looking for insulated wrapping wire. Radioshack carries it online, but I bought this in store 11+ years agohttp://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062640&cp=&sr=1&origkw=30+wire&kw=30+wire&parentPage=search[Edited on July 30, 2007 at 5:41 AM. werd.

Radio Shack may also have the insulated wrapping wire in store stock. I believe it's the Kynar insulated stuff, and yes, it's 30 gage. You might also look at their multipack of magnet wire, which comes in 3 gages. I honestly can't remember what the gages are, but I have some. Stuff is in three colors: clear (copper colored), red, and green. It's like a thin film of shellac or plastic insulation on it.
7/30/2007 11:50:38 AM
well, not gonna need that stuff anymore
7/30/2007 12:23:20 PM
rookie mistake, could have happened to anyone
7/30/2007 6:12:45 PM
so did you actually damage the board or did you just rip the solder out? Post a pic, could be an easy repair.
7/30/2007 9:52:24 PM
the board isnt physically damaged, i just ripped the solder and the copper wire out a little bit.im sending it off to get proff. fixed and with 1 year warranty.
7/30/2007 11:36:26 PM
ive played a wii,, its ok but 360 ftw
7/30/2007 11:41:07 PM
^^come on, i'm sure merchants is more than qualified.
7/30/2007 11:45:56 PM
just take it to henrys and get it welded NIGGA
7/30/2007 11:50:36 PM
Why don't you just hit it with a soldering iron and fix it yerself and save the coin?
7/31/2007 1:36:42 AM
yeah pussy
7/31/2007 5:22:57 AM
i cant see stuff that small.. and when i wear my dads magnifying helmet it helps (but i still get cross-eyed). but i aint got that much skill to solder stuff that small.
