Anyone have any good suggestions for places to go or people who do this around town? Willing to travel a little for a great job. I have tried emailing tvpauto and have had no response. Also, read more than one horror story about formula one so not interested. Any others?

Thanks

Sounds like Pete is the man to CALL. Can you give his pricing info. here? I know it will be different for each car, maybe you can tell me what you paid and your vehicle?

Thanks again

i had him do two cars at once last time, (12 peices of tint on one, 5 on the other) cant remember exactly what i paid but it was VERY reasonable, less than getting anything done at formula one.

Sounds great. And the film has a lifetime warranty?

I have existing tint on my car now and the back window has bubbled up and the two side windows both have horrible looking streaks in them (from the window motor when the windows go up and down). Will the stuff from Pete resist this?

TVP, and any other tint shop, will not want to fuck with you. Why? #1 you already have tint on your car and removing it is a bitch. #2 Noone wants to put tint on a window that is having mechanical problems- which yours obviously are if you have "horrible" scratches in the existing tint.

To achieve great sucess with your windows here is what you need to do: Have the mechanical problem in the door fixed, wether its replacing a rubbing strip or adjusting a slide/regulator, whatever. No offense, but from the sound of things you should probably take it to a professional. THEN and only then remove the tint yourself. You can find great tips for doing this online. You will need to be sure to get the glass VERY VERY clean when you are removing the old tint. Any leftover adhesive will cause bubbles in the new tint and the tint shop wont be responsible for that since you didnt pay them to remove the old stuff.

FINALLY then you will be ready to call Pete, and get an estimate. Since he wont have to worry about your windows fucking up the new film, or having to remove old tint, you will get his best price and it will be quick and easy to apply the new film.

YOU'RE WELCOME

I dont think its mechanical problems because it is on both windows. I think it was a shitty material they used in the first place. It was originally done in Durham (enough said....I bought the car used, I wouldnt have made that mistake). Anyway, I will call Pete and see if he can maybe just look at it for me. Maybe it is the windows, in that case thanks for giving me something to expect. Thanks again for the help.

I used the FormulaOne guys off of Capital last month to do my G35. It was expensive, but I liked the guarantee, so didn't mind.

Going in for a clear bra next week.

They were pretty easy to work with and I can be pretty anal, espicially with a new car as I had just bought it three days before. There were three small bubles in the tint when I picked it up but the guy assured me that all I needed to do was park the car in the sun, instead of the garage and not roll down the windows for the next five or so days. By day two all of the bubbles were gone and I couldn't be happier with it.

Just my .02.

had my truck done at F1 about a year ago, they did all 5 windows, 35% in the front, 15% in the rear, even took the front windows out to do it right, and it was just under $200, lifetime warranty and I have not had any issues with it, besides a few burns on the edge from flicking cigs out the window

bttt - I read in one of the older threads that Pete at TVP is mobile? Is this still true? I'd love to not have to leave my car and hitch a ride.

I will, when it's not the weekend, and it's not outside of normal working hours. I'm sure the man has a life outside of his job.

The question I posed could be easily answered by anyone who has had work done by him on site, so your fucking weak attempt at a smart assed comment doesn't really help anything except to put you further along in your quest to be the first person told to eat a fucking dick today by me.

Obviously my intent is to call him, based on the lauding he's gotten here. There's nothing wrong with me asking a question. What would be better from your dumb ass, instead of saying "call him" which I'm OBVIOUSLY going to do, would be either

1. not even replying if you don't have the answer to my question

or

2. answering the question if you do

he did my car. let some newbie do one side (it had to be redone).

cutting edge. apparently he's changed tint suppliers though, before it was luumar.

i'm gonna have to see if he still honors the warranty.
