Cost effectively that is.

I know the North Wake Haz Waste will accept it, but is there any place closer?

Advance Auto takes car batteries, Batteries Plus takes rechargeables, but I haven't found anywhere local that takes alkalines.

Help!

I thought the North Wake site was for disposal. Either way, I'm happy that you're not just throwing them away. Paint and batteries are wreaking havoc on NC shellfish.

I vaguely remember a middle or high school science teacher tell us how you could touch a magnet to a battery and it would magically work again. I always wanted to try it just to see how well it works. I would expect it to give you a pretty pitiful return of energy, but I'm still curious.

disposal, recycling - as long as it's gone from my house and not in the trash is good enough for me

you can drop off rechargable batteries at any fire station, but i don't know if they'll take alkaline ones or not
