assfucking!I kid. But, we do have a few open spots in our 5 year strong fantasy football league if anyone is interested. Its a hardcore, prove you know your shit league, no lightweights. Its a keeper league, all returning owners get 2 players from their roster from last year, any new owners will pick up their "keepers" in a preliminary draft (with JUST the new owners involved) a few days before the regular draft. We had a couple of guys have to drop out so their players (which includes some badasses, LT, Steve Smith, etc.) will be available along with any players not kept by us returning players for the prelim. draft. The draft will be in person in Raleigh, NOT online, probably Sunday, Aug. the 19th, but there is a small chance it could be moved to the weekend before that... Let me know asap if you are interested.

what site does the league run through?Yahoo, ESPN, CBS, etc? Whats the scoring format? Number of positions, etc.I am interested. I spread myself way to thin every year, but screw it.

Yahoo1QB2RB2WR1TE1WR/TE1K1D5 Bench playersthe scoring system is the best I have ever seen, mainly because I, along with others, came up with it . The whole logic behind it is to make things worth the same relative amount that they are worth in real football... so there is none of that stupid shit where a passing TD is worth less than a rushing TD... a TD is a TD, all turnovers are the same etc. About the only "weird" one we have is a missed PAT being -6... it hardly ever happens, but its something to make kickers a bit more exciting. Also, you will notice that we have defenses potentially worth a lot of points, as they should be, because 1 fantasy spot is representing 1/3 of the real game, so a really good defensive week should be worth about 2-3 offensive players at least. Only one that we are thinking of tweaking is passing yards... it used to be 50 yards=1point... it will probably be 20-30 yards=1 point this yearPassing Attempts (-.25)Completions (.50)Passing Yards (20 yards per point)Passing Touchdowns (6)Interceptions (-3)Sacks (-.5)Rushing Attempts (.25)Rushing Yards (20 yards per point)Rushing Touchdowns (6)Receptions (1)Reception Yards (20 yards per point)Reception Touchdowns (6)Return Yards (20 yards per point)Return Touchdowns (6)Fumbles Lost (-3)Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3)Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3)Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-3)Point After Attempt Made (1)Point After Attempt Missed (-6)Sack (2)Interception (3)Fumble Recovery (3)Touchdown (6)Safety (3)Block Kick (2)Points Allowed 0 points (50)Points Allowed 1-6 points (30)Points Allowed 7-13 points (20)Points Allowed 14-20 points (10)Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)Points Allowed 28-34 points (-5)Points Allowed 35+ points (-30)

I'll play. I think the DEF scoring is out of hand but whatever.
7/20/2007 3:24:05 PM
before you agree... make sure you are ok with the $$$as for the defense, once again, we are trying to make it as close to real football as possible, so if your defense shuts out the other team you will pretty much win every time, as you would in real football... but that is extremely rare in the NFL$$50 for the league itselfthen we split the "upgrade fee" for yahoo, which is like $125ishthen an additional charge of $50/# teams *** more on this belowpayouts are3rd place - $502nd - 20% of whats left1st - 80% of whats leftnew for this year we are going to do something to make the 4th-last spots more interesting... everyone in the league is going to contribute an extra amount equal to $50/# teams (what i mentioned above). This extra $50 total will go to one of the players who finishes out of the top 3, and it will be a lottery system... the 4th place player will have the best chance of winning it, 5th place the next, and so on...so even if you know you are out of the money there is incentive to keep trying the whole seasonso total entrance will be around $67-70
7/20/2007 3:26:36 PM
yeah, mention money and it gets quiet all of a sudden haha
7/20/2007 4:05:27 PM
It's only an investment till i get my 80% of the purse as the return
7/20/2007 4:35:08 PM
haha, yeah, its definitely worth a little bit of effort
7/20/2007 5:43:18 PM
defense points are ridiculous
7/20/2007 5:54:10 PM
an average defense gets between 15-35 points, which is very reasonable considering 1 single offensive player get who has a good game can get 25-45 points
7/20/2007 7:04:58 PM
I think the key difference there is that in your league, a defense can get the shit kicked out of them, get 20 points scored on them, and still gain 10 fantasy points for essentially doing nothing but get their friggin teeth kicked in all day, whereas if a RB in you league only has 50 yards rushing and 1 or 2 fumbles, he is looking at potentially having a point total of -1.I am sticking by my guns on this one. Receiving and rushing point accumulations MUST be 10 yds per point (If you want the scoring to be indicative of real life value). If you are going to give a Team Defense that much weight and include return TD's, you have to level the playing field a little. Otherwise, why not draft a team defense in Rd 5? They would obviously be more important than a backup RB or #2 WR.

^^ um, you dont get it, we wanted Defense to be JUST as important as offensive positions. I took a defense in the FIRST round last year and won the league (our first round is the equivalent of a normal 3rd round because of the 2 keepers). And we give 1 point per reception, so the 20 yards per point has worked fine.[Edited on July 21, 2007 at 12:38 AM. Reason : d]

So a noob doesn't get any keepers?
7/21/2007 12:45:00 AM
technically no... but, as I said in the first post they will take part in a preliminary draft where they will pick from all the players not kept by everyone else, AND the players who were on the teams of people who couldnt play this year... some of them include:LTSteve SmithBreesEdgeMcGaheeTaylorRudi Johnson plus all of the players not kept from the returning playersso the new guys could very well be loaded
7/21/2007 12:52:23 AM
I am interested; I can make a weekend draft, but I would need the preliminary draft for new owners to be online or something, because I live in Winston-Salem
7/21/2007 2:41:13 AM
yeah, we usually do that online, typically using AIM, Yahoo mess., or email...are you open aug 19th and/or the 12th?The 19th is the current date, but one guy will be out of town so we are trying to switch it to the 12th so he wont have to have someone draft for him.. let me know
7/21/2007 12:06:57 PM
yeah, I can do either date
7/21/2007 12:14:43 PM
aight, hes in
7/22/2007 12:25:47 PM
I hate it when people bitch about the def being too important. I have been in leagues where def were taken after kickers in the draft. If the def is not going to be able to effect the outcome of the game then why even have one.
