...for hypocrisy

Quote :
"Coy Privette charged in prostitution case
By Victoria Cherrie, The Charlotte Observer

Cabarrus County Commissioner Coy Privette was charged this morning with six counts of aiding and abetting prostitution. He was released from the Rowan County Jail on a written promise to appear, police said.

Privette, a former N.C. State Representative and retired Baptist minister, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The misdemeanor charges stemmed from an investigation into a forged check at First Charter Bank in Kannapolis, police said. Also charged was Tiffany Denise Summers, 32, of Salisbury. She was charged with six counts of prostitution.

Summers has been convicted of drug, prostitution and possessing stolen goods, according to court documents.

The case is still under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation and Kannapolis police."

If you think about the world population as a whole, more people hate Christians than Jews. Just thought that was kind of cool.

agentlion pretty much covered it. i was also summarily ejected from the GOP in 2005 for not being sufficiently "Christian", while they were idolizing people like Privette, David Almond, Donnie Harrison, etc etc etc

excuse me if i sound skeptical, but how the hell do you get "summarily ejected" from the GOP?

i used to be a Republican party precinct secretary in raleigh back in the good ol' "Gingrich Revolution" days (yeah i know ), and the only thing that would get you "kicked out" that i can remember is not paying your membership dues. even that, if you go stick a few campaign signs on wade avenue, and they'd even let it go.

adopting a motion at their convention removing you from your position as Vice Chairman and preventing you from doing anything on their Executive Committee (which includes damn near everybody all the way down to precinct captains)

it started b/c this ran in the News & Observer on the first morning of their state convention in Greensboro

yeah, i know right?

just out of the military, with a couple english and philosophy classes under my belt, i was one of those assholes who thought Ayn Rand was a pure genius.

Objectivism led to the Libertarian Party. quickly realized they were a bunch of nutjobs. Gingrich was leading the so-called Republican Revolution at that time (93-94). I was in for the conservative economic theory. I can't remember the social conservatism being a big part of the platform. if it was, i was able to rationalize it away as being "more about the economics"

after the '94 "revolution" i quickly saw it was "business as usual" for the republican politicians who had promised everyone fundamental changes.

i eventually became more concerned about civil liberties and human rights, and realized the pursuit of an unconstrained capitalist hegemony directly contributes to -- if not outright causes -- most of the human suffering and disparity in our country and world.

(PS: I also was a member of the NRA (national rifle association) and SCV (sons of confederate veterans) ... but just don't tell anyone )

Are you sure you didn't mean to say that capitalism has done the most to raise the standard of living for the most people and it's government that is the cause of most human suffering and disparity in the world?

Just cause the republicans are a bunch of spineless toadies, doesn't mean you have to abandon the love of liberty, free minds and free markets.

When did this happen? I always thought the mantra was that the democrats were the spineless ones.

the hooker in question has previous convictions.

the case described against Privette is under investigation.

the article at hand is sloppily written.

definitely curious.

that's what it sounded like to me too...

oh and by "ex-director of the Christian Action League of North Carolina" earlier, I meant to tack on "founder and ex-director of the Christian Action League of North Carolina"
