One of my "girl" friends has a ton of Beanie Babies and she wants to sell them.I've been trying to help her out price them from the google but there is way too much information listed and it seems the prices are all over the place.i know there are guides you can buy from ebay or whatever and we have been checking over the listings on ebay / cross referencing those with other website and BB forums.does anyone here have any experience selling this type of collectibles. She does have some 1st generation BBs from 1993 and tons of others that were collected in the span of about 10 yearsany help or guidance would be appreciated

my dad used to head up to the local crackerbarrel buy them, come home and turn around and sell them online for several times what we paid for them. it was during a hard time financially for us, the money he made really helped

Forget what any pricing guide or flea market operator's website tells you. The "completed listings" on eBay is the truest price guide you're going to find. It will represent what you can actually sell the item for when you put it up in front of thousands of interested buyers and let them bid.

PackMan92, thank you! thats the kind of info im looking foryou too, Skackshe has a 1st edition 1st gen. Lobster or whatever ...thats the one i was thinking about for the 1200...I agree that most people, if anybody would pay that.another question. would it be better for her to list her collection as individual sales or group them together by year / or sell the complete collection for one price and be done with it?
7/18/2007 12:01:24 PM
I would just sell the ENTIRE thing as a groupshe'd probably make the most money that way...just make sure to stress the "rare" beanie babies in the auction when you make it
7/18/2007 12:21:30 PM
yeah we had a few of the first really rare ones. There is not much of a market for buyers anymore. I think I saw a first generation teddy bear on ebay for $30. Not sure if it sold.
7/18/2007 1:47:38 PM
My mom collected them for a while, and we have a couple rare ones, but they're really not going for a lot. Even some of the rarest ones aren't going for more than $50 on ebay... So I don't know if she'll be able to get $1200 for any of them. It's probably better to do individual, mainly because if anyone is still collecting these things, they're more likely to be looking for one or two things and not a giant set.
7/18/2007 2:06:42 PM
^ That's what I was going to say. If there's anyone who would actually be willing to shell out a bunch for one of the rare ones, they probably already have all the others and wouldn't want to buy the whole set.

I flipped some back when they were hot. The biggest deals were a Seamore that I sold for $80 when it was impossible to find and a Tabasco for $100 right after the lawsuit. I probably could've watched the market like a hawk and gotten more, but I decided that 20x my money back was good enough and let them go. I'm sort of glad they're not worth a ton now, I'd be mad at myself. ]

So, for those of you that bought that comic where superman died - is that helping you pay for college now
7/18/2007 3:18:15 PM
my mom would get them before others could...we had like two or three princess diana bears some without the rose and didn't sell a single one.i missed the ebay window and regret it. prolly like 200 of those damn things in garbage bags in storage

i have tabasco the bull, which was pulled because of copyright infringement. of course my dumbass pulled the tag off, so it ain't worth shit now. i could've sold it to some fool in chicago for 2 grand probably
7/18/2007 4:56:31 PM
^ Do you still have the tag? It's easy to put them back on.
7/18/2007 5:53:49 PM
probably like three of those bulls back at my parent's house, tag protectors too. are they still worth something?
7/18/2007 5:54:33 PM
sorry guys the new "beanie" stuffed animal is webkinz...thats where the money is now...believe me I have experienced the toy store mania
7/18/2007 6:11:27 PM
I have about 3 boxes full too w/ the mcdonalds ones in the wrapper...too bad I kept it off for so long I don't even know where they are in the house.
7/18/2007 6:18:25 PM
McDonalds came out with these....Wizard of Oz dolls, (I guess?). My beau's niece and his mom both have the entire set. Lemme see if I can find a picture.I wonder if these will ever be worth something....they go for about $40 on amazon currently.Anybody collected those? They came out in 1997.[Edited on July 18, 2007 at 6:51 PM. Reason : added]

I have a crazy ton of older beanie babies, and I'm just planning on donating mine. It's not worth the pain of advertising, shipping, and hounding people for money.
