Ask the guy to post up the VIN and the most recent picture. Tell him to hit craigslist, cbr forums' and ebay and look for his parts. If it has distinguishing damage, it'll be easier to identify them.

I hope your acquaintance finds his ride. My roommate and I live in the same complex and we both have bikes. I saw his flier on my bike. BTW saw this posting http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/376104257.html Someone's got a hard on for Hondas

I'm convinced that you can't keep a nice sport bike if you live in an apartment and even if you don't live in an apartment then you need to guard that thing like a hawk. I actually kept my bimmer in the kitchen one winter because I hated coming home every day and wondering if it would still be chained up in the carport.Sorry for your friend. Hope he finds his bike. A friend of mine lost his CBR600 in Chapel Hill and it was found a few months later in terrible condition. The rear brakes were gone. It had been dropped. The back tire which had been new was worn to the wires. A cop tried to pull over a group of bikes on Franklin St. and all of them took off except the rider who was sitting on his bike. He was really lucky to get it back even though he just sold it off because it was a p.o.s.[Edited on July 17, 2007 at 10:45 PM. Reason : . ]

Don't own a bike myself, but generally how do they get ganked? Rolled up into a truck bed or hotwired or what?
7/17/2007 10:48:30 PM
Three or four guys toss it in a truck and drive off. Worry about the steering lock and ignition later.
7/17/2007 10:49:20 PM
not really, I'm out of the loop when it comes to bikes even though I've wanted to own one. I've seen a lot of posts about missing bikes on here before and just wondered is it really that easy to take one?
7/17/2007 10:55:17 PM
Yeah, sportbikes are quite prone to being stolen, especially light ones (the F4i is sub-400 pounds, not too difficult for two guys)[Edited on July 17, 2007 at 11:11 PM. Reason : ]
7/17/2007 11:10:37 PM
yea they're stupid easy to steal.. at most they might have a lock on the rotors but besides that there isn't shit stopping you from rolling one on to a trailer and worrying about the rest later+ clean title frames are available on ebay...
7/17/2007 11:14:46 PM
So I guess there's nothing electrically activated/locked down, that could keep the bike out of neutral? Wouldn't GPS location units come in handy or is it not feasible enough to use them?
7/17/2007 11:26:36 PM
LoJack systems have GPS made for bikes. They are a main reason why huge bike chop shops are found.

to update.... Chris's Red F4i was found. Not sure of the story or condition, but it was recovered.

I guess this is the dude's bike.http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/376492154.html
7/18/2007 3:00:52 PM
^ not unless he somehow also stole the title, or somehow generated a counterfeit one.
7/18/2007 3:16:42 PM
that is the bike...he got it back already if you read ncsukat's post
7/18/2007 3:26:20 PM
how are you making the connection that it is, indeed, that dude's bike?
7/18/2007 3:30:48 PM
because I know the dude and his name is chris and that's his phone number....jamie got the info from him...and that is his bike, I've seen it in person.
7/18/2007 3:42:37 PM
Oh yeah, Chris! I haven't seen that kid in a year. Used to have that old gixxer that someone threw a brick at. He still owes me money.

^^ how are you going to make him pay for that horrible paint job you guys gave it?
7/19/2007 1:40:19 AM
I didn't do it. I only paint flat black dude... That's why Igor makes all of the jokes "JBaz flat black special..." I've done almost a dozen bikes and all flat black. Its just easy and cheap. I fixed the fucked up front end and he hasn't paid me for the parts yet.
7/19/2007 6:32:23 PM
From what i've heard he got the bike back with only the ignition f*cked up... so he's replacing it and selling the bike. I'll post more details if/when I get them.[Edited on July 19, 2007 at 7:16 PM. Reason : posted by ncsukat]
