best move that team would ever make personally.he'd bring interest and players thats for sure. the buyout i think is around one billion.anyone else agree its a good move for baseball and especially the Cubs?

good move for baseball, even better move for the cubs.

this would be the best possible thing for the cubs. He would get a-rod and put him at ss, the cubs lineup would go soriano-lee-rodriguez-ramirez. That would be fuck you billy goat[Edited on July 16, 2007 at 1:41 AM. Reason : at]

^^^ well, him just WANTING to do it is about 5 years old, him actually filing the paperwork is about 4-5 days old

As a life long Cubs fan I have mixed feelings on this, it would be interesting to see what changes he would make, hopefully it would become a total circus like it was with the Mavs at times though.

mark cuban could buy the cubs and they'd still find new ways to be mediocre yet sell out consistently. a smart owner would open wrigley field II across the street so that there'd be two gigantic beer gardens in wrigleyville.

the paperwork is new, but its been in the chicago media all seasonmoving on...mattallica: i have a NC buddy coming up to Madison that weekend for the nations greatest beer festivalre: mark cuban. there is nothing not to be excited about. i mean seriously, the cubs ownership has been such garbage for so long

^^ yes, that has covered in immense depth on this board and everywhere else in the worldthe cubs are likely to have very strong attendance regardless for a number of reasons...1)the stadium is a sports landmark2)the stadium is located in a very young and successful part of town so people have the means to attend games3)its more fucking fun than other ballparks. The surrounding area is not even remotely approachable by any stadium in any sport in this country, period.4)Chicago is a big fucking city and more importantly its a baseball city...cubs fans outnumber sox fans bigtime, so they go to wrigleybut poor ownership has played a big role in losing, so a change is certainly due

1. yes. so is navy pier, in terms of tourists. trust me, I'm a huge cubs fan but wrigleyville is so disgusting when it's tourists left and right.2) absolutely.3) it's not really that fun as a ballpark, as is, but is fucking brilliantly fun as an expensive beer garden. it's been dilapidated for around 20-30 years. just imagine the north side without the gentrification. they put up nets to catch falling debris from the structure!4) agreed. sox stole a ton of steam in 2005 but with the shitty way their team has been and the suburban nature of their team they aren't really a threat to the cubs. though I know a lot of "cubs fans" that couldn't explain the fucking sport to me. can't say I've met a ton of bandwagoning sox fans since I've moved to the area.cubs are fucking HOT right now and I think they are due for at least a wild card bid right now. tribune co. couldn't be happier.
