I just recently started drinking soymilk because one of my professors who does research on breast cancer says it minimizes breast cancer... And I tried it once and I loved it... I drink like a gallon a day Well I noticed that my boobs are bigger... I did a little research and yes indeed the phyto estrogens mimics the body's natural estrogen and causes the boobs to get bigger but I dunno if the source of information is credible or not... Does anyone know anything about this? I wanna know what you guys think

Don't like it.. but there are a lot of benefits to drinking soy milk including maintaing bone density which is lost after women go through menopause... [Edited on July 11, 2007 at 10:47 PM. I know there is (was? this may be obsolete info) some concern about the effects of soy formula on babies. The article I read claimed that soy formula in normal amounts provided amounts of estrogen equivalent to birth control pills. My M-I-L says soymilk helps with hot flashes; and I've noticed the boob effect as well. You may be onto the next dietary supplement craze.

phytoestrogens can do some bad things to the body, obviously by acting as elevated levels of estrogen. even birth control is now low-dose estrogen due to increased risks for cancer. phytoestrogens are found in almost everything we use... even clear soft water bottles (like your coke or dasani bottle). drinking out of "damaged" (aka, the bottle has been creased or crushed and you're still using it) bottles can expose you to a level of phytoestrogens that are suggested to cause reproductive malformations in unborn children. they're doing a lot of studies in rats at the moment... being in the reproduction field, i've been hearing that phytoestrogens are becoming a HUGE focus for health organizations. data suggests that there is a difference in the impact on fetuses between asian and american mothers, and it seems to have to do with how long the mother is exposed, and at what doses, and this somehow impacts the fetus differently. (this isn't a racial or ethnic influence... it's their diets.)i'm not saying to stop drinking it all together. and god knows you'll be exposed 20 other ways every day to phytoestrogens. but, like anything else, it should probably be done in moderation.[Edited on July 12, 2007 at 12:18 AM. oh shit das loungeI <3 choc soymilk. In relation to that study on the Japanese-American elders in the U.S., obviously because of their traditions they're going to be more inclined than regular americans to eat tofu. To put that in respect to the larger scale, japan would be fuxored by now. I would hardly call them stupid these days. Wierd sex fetishes yes, more impaired from tofu no.

even though soy milk does contain relatively high levels (but much, much less than the actual soy beans), most people don't drink enough for there to be any real concern--then again most people don't drink a gallon per day[Edited on July 12, 2007 at 5:30 AM. Reason : .]

For every study showing benefits of soy consumption, there is one showing harmful effects. And so, experts are divided on this issue.***************************************http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53327Soy is making kids 'gay'(take it with a grain of salt)But yes, it IS known for having a feminizing effect.***************************************

There was already a thread about this awhile back.

Damn...for a while there I was eating edamame three or four times a week and eating my Kashi cereal with soymilk. No sign of breast enlargement. Whew.

haha yea, i drink a glass of soy milk every dayi hope i dont grow titties... I mean, that would be nice, being able to play with titties and stuff, but id think it would be weird if they grew on me.

And here I thought legumes were actually very beneficial...but this past weekend Frac tells me that peanuts (because they aren't real nuts) aren't that hot for you. I've got to do more reading on this...George Washington Carver would have a fit.

I've been posting about the dangers of soy products for men around here for years. there is a ton of research on the subject.

go on Pubmed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez/) and look it up. Retha Newbold at NIEHS has been looking into this. They also suggest that you not drink soy milk during pregnancy because it might cause reproductive defects.

I've never seen any studies indicating that it reduces prostate cancer - only studies indicating that countries that consume more soy products have lower risks of prostate cancer.

I don't drink soy milk for two reasons:1. I'm not lactose intolerant.2. Cow titty milk is cheaper.I <3 cow titty milk.

soy milk tastes disgustingand both soy milk and protein are bad if you're working out, from what i've read, due to the estrogen effects
7/12/2007 2:32:50 PM
wait, i might have read your lat post wrong, youre not saying protein is bad for you if you work out are you
7/12/2007 2:35:47 PM

7/12/2007 2:37:57 PM
oh ok, makes sense i dont even know much about soy stuff. i thought maybe thats what he was referring to but thats why i had to ask. thanks

I know without a link or something I lose credibility, but I saw recently where the phytoestrogens in a soy-rich diet in men damaged sperm production/other jewel related things....
7/12/2007 3:20:22 PM
i don't care if they damage my sperm...i just don't want them to damage my physique!
7/12/2007 3:22:07 PM
phytoestrogens lower testosterone levels and resultingly lower sperm count through their actions on the HPTA, but I've never heard of it damaging sperm.
7/12/2007 3:25:18 PM
I didn't say damages sperm.....let me rephrase, negativly impacts sperm production......but yes, because of

That's pretty sweet, though I don't really think my boobs need any growth. I eat a bowl of cereal at least once a day with soy milk.

if you're going to go organic you need to do research, lots of companies meet just the minimum requirements to be "organic" and are not much better than traditional companies.
