Here is my situation:My Toshiba laptop stopped booting to windows. I sent it in to Toshiba for warranty repairs. I got the laptop back in a timely fashion. My younger sister opened the laptop up to surf the web. I then heard some vulgar music coming from the speakers. She then told me what was on the computer when she booted it up.Attached to the screen was a yellow sticky note saying:Drama Ganghis\her myspace pageCome check us out!And on the desktop there was a folder called "drama gang". My sister opened the folder and inside were two mp3 files called "Fresh T" and "work for da money". Both of these music files have very vulgar langauge. One depicts how a prostitude makes her money in detail. Both the files and folder were created on the day the technician was fixing my computer. So I called toshiba told them every thing and they are "investigating" the matter. So today I do a check to see what files were recently opened. I am pissed to say the person opened my resume, credit report, and a file containing names, addressed, and phone numbers of 100 members of my family.I visited the myspace page and the songs on the page match the ones on my laptop and the address of the myspace page creator is in the same city as toshiba's depot for fixing laptops. So what do I do know?? contact a lawyer??

your name is Dell and you have a Toshiba laptop?
7/10/2007 6:06:07 PM
Wow, you guys are harsh!First I'd wait to see if Toshiba is going to do anything about it. Then, I'd first contact Toshiba informing them that you will be contacting a lawyer before actually contacting one to see if that get's anything done. When all else fails, finally contact a lawyer to see what they have to say. There's no reason for them to be going through your computer.

^^ if you're going to contact a lawyer, do it. Don't use it as a threat, it doesn't work anymore.

Anyone who works on laptop repairs has no business singing about prostitutes.Send his ass to jail for identity theft and give him something to write songs about.

UPDATE:Toshiba found the tech who put the music on my computer. He is currently being "repremanded" and is in danger of losing his job. Toshiba failed to mention anything about my personal files being opened. They told me thats all they are going to do and to call Consumer Relations if I feel the need to complain some more.I called Consumer Relations and the rep said she couldnt do anything and for me to call the Technical Depot since one of their reps did everything.I am not looking to get rich off somebody opening my files. The computer works fine. I did go out and buy all three credit reports, scores, currently have them being monitored for inquiries, changes, and new accounts being opened, and bought $25,000 worth of indentity theft insurance.
