what company/coverage do you have and how much does it cost?

looked for older threads. didn't see any that weren't too old to bump.

It really doesn't matter what anyone else has.... It just matters what YOU can get.

The chances of someone on here driving the same car, the same amount, with the same coverage, parking it in the same place, and with the same driving record as you are slim to none. The rates aren't going to be the same.

Maybe you should ask if anyone is in the insurance industry, or has a high recommendation for someone who has done well by them for multiple years?!?

im very very happy that my latest speeding ticket was thrown out of court (last month). it was set to be delayed until some points came off or i'd probably get a suspension.

but now i have like 9 points coming off at once very soon, so now i should have 0 (i had a bad bad bad streak a few years back that ended pretty much all the same day with like 393423 pleas - and a lot of the stuff that i thought counted as points actually does not).

but get this -- i just got a seatbelt ticket a couple weeks ago, and i think that carries a single point now. so much for the zero points, unless somehow that one gets dismissed too. but i think im just gonna [allegedly] mail in the 100 bucks (can you believe they are 100 bucks now - also can you believe i still [allegedly] drove without a seatbelt after tearing my head up so bad)

speaking of that wreck, it doesnt hurt me somehow. maybe cause i wasnt cited, probably cause it was a POS car and i only had state minimums on it, but i definitely totalled my car and a lightpole

anyways i carry full now and mine isnt terrible (all things considered) but its only gonna get a shitload better when it renews

i've geico, which is cheap as shit (like $100 every 6 mths), but i'm afraid they're gonna screw me over if i'm ever actually in an accident. i've heard good things about amica, although i've not directly known anyone who has had them--they are atleast a mutual insurance company

2 speeding tickets (both 4 years+ ago.. both thrown out at time, however, when i had to apply for a new policy when i moved up here, they were used int he rate calc..)
1 wreck (not at fault, 4.5 years ago)
state sponsored safe driver school certified (work required, but drops insurance)
100/300k coverage

^^^296 a month for a 5 year old car and a solid driving record sounds absurd.

i'd just get liability for those kind of prices
might as well take the risk you'll pay $2,500 a year right there

You're eligible for USAA. Just go to them first. I know precisely one person for whom USAA isn't the cheapest.

And if you're newly licensed, bend over and hope to god you're lucky enough for lube. The price for being a new driver an inexperienced operator is astronomical

Mine is only like 600 every year for me & my wife with Amica.

The rates are way better than State Farm.

If you can get USAA do it because they actually don't try to fuck around and delay you getting money/rentals/etc when you actually have to file a claim (it's awesome to have a company that isn't profit driven).

My friends have had nightmares when it comes to claims (neither were at fault) with State Farm and even more so with Geico.

You must have shit insurance... My quote was 1,250 a year with Geico in Philly when I was thinking of moving there... I pay the same out here in CA and the cost of living and insurance is pretty close to the same as the Northeast..

Kemper Auto/Home for my car insurance company

I have a clean record for the last three years, and my '03 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally costs about $90 for full coverage with towing, upgraded car rental, $100 deductible collision, $0 other than collision, uninsured/underinsured and 100/300/60

Travelers quoted me at $1320/year for 07 Mazda with one speeding ticket of 9 over. Liberty Mutual is quoting me at $1000/year with an NCSU alum discount or something. This is in Mecklenburg county communting ~40 miles/day.

im basically in philly.

it's with nationwide.

geico's quote was $420/yr higher.

believe me, i dont get it either... i shopped for 3 months before going with this one, which was the cheapest for the coverage plan i went with.

part of it is the car, its on the list of top 5 highest to insure... my area code doesnt help either. i live in a super nice neighborhood downtown, but like 5 blocks away it's RUFF

[as a comparison, my yearly nc insurance was $1475, 250/500k]

[Edited on July 5, 2007 at 4:16 PM. Reason : e]

actually, i kept an NC plate and insurance for 14 months after moving here to try and dip that price increase as long as possible... my company didnt issue policies in DE, which sucks

my insurance went way the fuck up when i was in arizona. even though i was in country ass catalina, the zip code 85739 still maps back to tucson, so i went up. plus there was a nice ass old people neighborhood like a mile away, so that probably didnt help. http://www.city-data.com/zips/85739.html

i even got the whole car inspection/emissions test shit which is done on site out there at the DMV, and registered the car in AZ. got some pretty tags around here somewhere. but considering how i only used them for 2 months, they were not worth it
