I have some stones that I had cut when I went gem mining in the mountains years ago.I want to get them made in to a ring or a pendant, etc.Anyone know somewhere in Raleigh/Cary that does that kind of stuff?I want to get them set in sterling.Gracias!

When you had them cut, were they cut to standard sizes? Or just cut however the stone was shaped? (If you can tell me the measurements, I can tell you if they're standard)The reason I ask is that it is pretty simple to find settings like this if the stones were cut to industry standard sizes, but gets a lot more difficult when they're just randomly cut.... that's where you get into custom mountings and such. I remember a Roberto Jewelers at Quail Corners (Spring Forest and Falls of Neuse). Not sure if it's still there - but they were always excellent.

Even though it's a chain and I usually like to stay local, I've been taking my jewelry to Jared over at Cary Towne Center... their service department is amazing, quick, and incredibly friendly. They've even done projects and repairs for me for things they don't usually do just because I always take my jewelry there. I don't know that they do exactly what you're looking for - but I bet they'd tell you who could if they don't.

I second Jareds in Cary.My engagement ring was created from the stones that were in a ring that my grandfather gave my grandmother for Christmas back when they were very young. They treated my grandmother's ring with the utmost care and respect and did a beautiful job with my engagement ring. They even made a suggestion for what we should do with the original ring, which is very sentimental, but not something that I could ever wear with my small hands: replace the diamonds that were taken for my engagement ring with other precious stones, preserve the antique setting, then have it turned into a necklace. My husband and I have used Jareds for the past 3 years for all of our jewelry needs and we've never been anything but extremely pleased with their work and service.

Yeah, Jared's is great. That's where my husband and I bought our wedding rings. We were on a very tight budget and the sales people never tried to take outside of that budget. I've never had anything custom-made by them, but I have a very unique engagement ring, and the sales people helped me find the perfect wedding ring to go with it, which we started to think was impossible.

Plaza West Pawn shop off of Jones Franklin. Ask for Scott. Did an excellent job on my wedding band and charges a very fair price.
