i lived in wilmington for 2 years, and between work and school didn't have a chance to explore. i'll be traveling there quite a bit over the rest of the summer, and i'm looking for some new places to visit.some of the places i've been and liked... buddha's belly, bella's, the soapbox, smudged pot, thrift stores (the one on college almost in carolina beach & the one downtown next to cfcc), fort fisher, the aquarium, racine arts center, level 5 (for improv/comedy), yellow dog discs, cd alley, and airlie gardens.if you know of any used bookstores (such as reader's corner in raleigh), art supply stores & galleries, record stores, vegetarian (or very vegetarian-friendly) cafes, clothing shops (that would have stuff like urban outfitters & rat bastard) etc. i'd really appreciate suggestions. thanks

i did explore a little bit, but had to work almost full time and was in school full time, and trying to squeeze all of that in and still see my boyfriend at the time was exhausting. a good number of weekends i came back to raleigh to help my mom (who is handicapped) around the house and with my little brother. and i also ate ramen 9/10 meals so didn't have much money to spend on fun.[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 2:12 AM. Go eat at the South College Sandwitch Deli on college rd. It's right near Petsmart. A little hole in the wall place, but they have THE BEST ever sammiches. I recommend the oleander TLT with homemade chips and ranch on the side.

Trolley Stop hot dog shop sells veggie dogs.Gravity records normally has a pretty good selection of punk/hardcore/metal stuff. The Soapbox and Marrz have decent bands downtown from time to time. Luckys on College Rd. does a lot of shows as well.

My wife (who is vegan) and I eat at Nagila over on Wrightsville, Nikki's downtown and by the mall, Tidal Creek Co-op on Oleander, Lovey's at Landfall, and she loves Qdoba at Mayfaire (but right now it has a bad health grade so we aren't eating there)....Also, we like Roudabush downtown. They have a great buffet with a vegan/vegetarian section to it. Hope these help!

just stay away from Princess Place at night, haha. I've never seen so many drug dealers/crackheads in one city. Market street is nice for about 1/2 mile.
