I'm moving and need to find a home for my cat, Lucy. She's 4 years old, declawed in front, likes her Gameboy and paper bags. She's a bit timid, but loving nonetheless, once she gets used to you. She comes with some food, a bag of litter, a bunch of kitty treats, and some toys as well. This is a "right now" sort of thing, as I'm moving on Wednesday and none of the leads that I had for homes have worked out.

Haha...
6/25/2007 12:56:17 AM
i just dont see why people take on the responsibilities of having a pet if they aren't prepared to take on having a pet.with that being said i wish i didn't have 2 dogs all ready b/c your cat def looks like she is fun.bump for finding this cat a home[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 2:18 AM. this is really smath isn't it
6/25/2007 7:29:16 AM
how hard is it to find a place that allows cats, honestly? and why the hell would you get her declawed! that's so inhumane. lets cut off your first knuckle of each finger and see how much you like it.
6/25/2007 8:06:36 AM
declawing aint so bad!
6/25/2007 8:14:07 AM
it begins
6/25/2007 8:15:34 AM
declawing is fine if the cat is an inside only cat
6/25/2007 8:32:55 AM
^^Seriously... I'm glad everyone knows so much about me and my cat. Please, continue...Also, bttt for Lucy
6/25/2007 8:52:44 AM
any idea if she'd get along with other cats?
6/25/2007 2:49:49 PM
Declawing is better than all of your furniture being ripped to pieces and the cat being eventually taken to the pound.
6/25/2007 3:06:20 PM
In the time she's been with me, she has encountered two other cats. The first was a female kitten I picked up (and who I dubbed "Smalls") as a temporary charity case from TWW (I think from MrENigma, IIRC...). For two months those two fought and "played", but Lucy was never quite comfortable with Smalls being around, and was often too stressed out to relax next to me. Twenty minutes after I dropped Smalls off at her new home, Lucy was on my lap and purring loudly, glad to be rid of her competition. The second visitor was Mashka, a 10 year old male cat I was watching while a friend went to Romania for 3 weeks. Mashka terrorized Lucy to no end, and basically took over the downstairs. For those three weeks, Mashka and Lucy used separate litter boxes, ate from separate food dishes, and Lucy spent the time either running for cover or sneaking around with her hackles raised and tail poofed. The failure of the second encounter was, I feel, more a function of Mashka's perceived role as "dominant male asshole" than Lucy's inability to get along with other cats. The moral of the story is that Lucy seems to be a loner, but I believe that, given enough time and the right companion, she could come around to living with another cat.
6/25/2007 3:15:49 PM
has she been spayed? is she litter box trained?
6/25/2007 3:18:21 PM
She is spayed, and I have never (in the three years I've owned her) seen evidence of her using anything other than the litterbox as a litterbox. She's been stressed because of the move recently, though, and I've had to clean up one instance of vomit.
6/25/2007 3:38:00 PM
its sad that you can't keep the cat yourself.
6/25/2007 4:12:59 PM
She is adorable and looks like she'd be a sweet playful kitty. I'm very, very tempted.... how soon do you need a definite answer?
6/25/2007 5:18:31 PM
6/25/2007 5:38:19 PM
Today or tomorrow would be best, otherwise she spends the night with Mashka...
6/25/2007 5:38:30 PM
...[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 6:19 PM. Reason : Double post..]
6/25/2007 6:19:23 PM
well, i've thought it over and i think i'm going to have to say thanks, but no thanks. This was a very hard decision...I love kitties and I hate the thought of sweet Lucy becoming an "orphan", but I just don't think it's the right time for me to be taking on the responsibility of another cat. I still have a cat back home at my parents' house and, although it may sound silly, I can't bear the thought that she would smell another cat on my when I go home to visit her. But the main reason is that it is just not the right time for me to be taking in a cat...I'm still trying to get settled in my apartment and still have boxes to unpack and furniture to move in, etc. and I do a fair amount of traveling and I'd have trouble finding someone to take care of her when I'm gone. anyway, sorry for rambling, like I said this was a tough decision. I wish Lucy the best and I hope she finds a great home. for Lucy
6/25/2007 11:57:52 PM
if declawing is inhumane, you should try putting tape on the bottom of their feet.
6/26/2007 6:45:50 AM
^ hahaha okay that one i've done
6/26/2007 7:02:46 AM
Morning, everyone. BTTT for Lucy and the declawing argument... She really needs a home, folks!^Tape anywhere on a cat is hilarious. Also, laser pointers on hardwood or linoleum floors.
6/26/2007 8:14:43 AM

6/26/2007 10:43:36 PM
she reminds me of my kitty that died too bad i am too poor for a cat
6/26/2007 11:04:56 PM
If she hasn't gone to the pound or found a home by the time I move into my apt in august I will attempt to take her. She sounds sweet and doesnt need any vet care. I'll talk to my future roomates and try my best... till then... free bump.
6/27/2007 11:21:55 AM
I wish I could take her in, but my cat would terrorize the shit out of her.
6/27/2007 11:51:23 AM
I found a temporary home for her that's better than with Mashka, but it's definitely not a permanent solution. Tell your friends!
6/27/2007 1:12:18 PM
Aww... she's such a pretty kitty. Good luck finding her a home. (free bttt)
6/27/2007 4:54:42 PM
BURN IN HELL YOU HORRIBLE PET OWNER!!! HOW DARE YOU TRY TO FIND A GOOD HOME FOR YOUR CAT!!! I HOPE A SEA GULL SHITS IN YOUR HAIR AND YOU STEP ON THE BUSINESS END OF A SHARD OF RUSTED SCRAP METAL.
6/27/2007 6:45:22 PM
I'm bttt-ing this until someone takes her. Also, welcome to the party, Smath!
6/28/2007 10:24:22 AM
Friday bump.
6/29/2007 8:50:08 AM
6/29/2007 10:03:40 AM
so vet's can't be dumb either? Not that I'm advocating declawing (my cat isn't), but people with the highest degrees can still be really dumb.
6/29/2007 12:18:29 PM
It seems there are a few folks online tonight, so bttt she goes!
7/1/2007 11:00:10 PM
http://www.declawing.com/I've honestly never even thought about declawing being inhumane until this debate, so I looked it up. Crazy shit--- I didn't realize it was banned in some European counties.
7/1/2007 11:25:15 PM
^ exactly.thats what i was tryin to bring to everyones attention a week ago
7/2/2007 9:14:22 AM
bttt. Lucy is still homeless!
7/3/2007 10:01:43 AM
i'd love to take her, but unfortunatly dont live in raleigh
7/3/2007 10:50:34 AM
Still curious why you have to give it up/ People may be more willing to take it in depending on the true reason your poor cat is getting the boot.
7/3/2007 2:02:33 PM
7/3/2007 2:36:13 PM
well if it has to go to the vet it`s a lot more expensive than a bag of litter and food every week or whatever
7/3/2007 7:31:04 PM
^^^<sigh> This is part of the reason:http://tinyurl.com/22vb4oThere is a chance that I can take her back in December when I graduate, but I need a change of venue, and there's a 6 month quarantine for pets in most European countries.
7/4/2007 1:34:26 AM
I might be able to take her, have to ask the bf, but I'll let you know
7/4/2007 2:43:31 AM
7/4/2007 10:04:00 AM
^^^ Its kind of hard to decrypt the code there. Are you getting married so you have to get rid of it? Changing venues because your getting married? Going over seas so you can enjoy your single life before you get married? I mean, why don't you just give a straight freaking answer? All this beating around the bush is making me not feel comfortable about this cat at all.
7/5/2007 10:25:22 AM
if you spend the time training your cat correctly and buy the appropriate type and number of scratching posts, you don't need to get your cat declawed.
7/5/2007 11:00:58 AM
7/5/2007 11:07:14 AM
The reason is really immaterial, outside of the fact that I've moved to a place where Lucy cannot follow, and it's a long story to boot. I appreciate the free bumps, but my personal life is really none of your concern. I've detailed more than enough about my life in that link, (which was plenty clear, if you ask me) and my profile will tell you a bit more. If you don't want the cat, then don't post. If you do want the cat, then ask about the cat, not me. It's as simple as that.
