I used to play the Zelda games on Project64 like 4 years ago, so Mario Kart should be no problem.

Project 64 works pretty well for most games. I use a PS2 controller hooked up to a usb/PS2 adapter so the controls are kinda awkward. I also tried using a 360 controller last night, worked fine.

Yeah, I remember playing Mario Kart 64 (on Project 64) several years ago. Controllers weren't an issue. You should be able to use any game controller you currently have. I've seen in work on several flavors of logitec controllers, sidewinders, and even crappier gamepad pros.[Edited on June 22, 2007 at 11:46 AM. Reason : ( )]
It's probably the best 64 emulator I've ever played, quality. I used to play a lot of goldeneye and mario kart on it with my gamepad.

In my opinion the two best controllers are the Logitech Rumblepad wireless controller (ps2 style) and the xbox 360 PC Wireless controller. Both can be bought at bestbuy/compusa, but they're always cheaper online (tiger direct). Project 64 pretty much works flawlessly in regard to mario kart, and you can up the resolution to whatever your native display is and play MK in HD. It actually renders the game at whatever res you want. Also you can add in anti-aliasing and better texture support. So it looks sooo much better than on an original N64. I even have trouble playing the N64 version now because it looks so bad compared to p64.

for some reason Project 64 (v1.7) is kinda displaying stuff screwed up. some courses are perfect, but the country one w/ the cows shows the fences way up in the air and the traffic highway course has the cars kinda randomly appear and the road is transparent so i can see through a hill to stuff behind it.athlon 64 3500geforce 7950GTgig o ram

^^Update your graphic drivers (i'm sure you already have) and try Project64 1.6 vs 1.7. Vary between fullscreen and windowed, see if there's a difference. Make sure the resolution you picked is correct. Try a few different MK roms. I can email you the one i use, that should work.

You can also try different graphics plugins. I don't recall off the top of my head what comes with the stock PJ64 these days, but in the past changing to a different plugin could vastly improve performance.I use a Logitech PS2-style USB gamepad. I imagine anything that works with DirectInput can be used.

^Oh in regard to the logitech game pads...I have a wireless logitech rumblepad 2 or whatever. The P64 website says it has vibration feedback support. Have you gotten it to work with the logitech controller? There's an option to enable it on p64, but it only vibrates at the start of the game i think. Do i need a plug in for this? or a driver?^Oh and there's a list of video/audio plug ins on the p64 website. I just run whatever comes with project 64. Would other video/audio plugins increase performance? (it runs fine now, but anything to make it look better). [Edited on June 22, 2007 at 3:26 PM. Reason : .]

it's a good one, me and tjb627 were playin some games last night, with a ps2 controller and a 360 controller lol. if u can hook up a controller to your computer, it should work. 360's will, ps2's will with the usb adapter (as with other console controllers/adapters). it runs fine, is free, with full screen (some don't allow full screen). you just have to find a good ROM, which isn't all that hard, and you can find a ton of sites with free roms with a little google-age.[Edited on June 22, 2007 at 6:51 PM.
