I have a client that wants to send out a weekly newsletter to a list of registered email addresses (around 1,000).

I looked at Lyris but they're pretty pricey. Does anyone know or have experience with any other mass mailers that you could recommend?

i know that some places at NCSU use Bronto for mailing services. i don't know anything about them, though.

Majordomo or PHPlist are pretty common.
