Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? I've kind of procrastinated on getting it. And will one policy cover the whole house or does each one of my roommates have to buy it too (can we buy a policy as a group and is it dumb to do so?)

as with any insurance: if you're eligible for USAA, get it.

Does anyone know if there are limits to what Renter's Insurance will cover? I looked on Liberty Mutual's website, but I don't see any limits. I'm specifically asking about SCUBA tanks, or it they'd be seen as a liability.

not sure, but you might have to take a separate policy out on them. surely you can get some type of insurance to cover them ,but perhaps not run-of-the-mill renter's will do it.

i have mine through state farm, and they say each person needs to insure their own stuff, but since i'm living with my boyfriend he just let me claim all his stuff as mine, i got a 20% discount on my car and renter's insurance for having 2 policies, so the renter's insurance paid for itself. you need to look into the little add-ons, such as sewer back up, jewelry, and for a lack of the real name, stupid computer owner insurance (covers anything you do to it, drop it, pour your drink on it intentionally...) but only if you need them.
