You could bury it in the sand and tell her you want to build sand castles. This would require a pretty private beach and remembering exactly where you hid the ring though.

^ or hide it in a really cool shell and act like you were just excited about the shell, but again, you would have to be in a fairly private area and know exactly where you hid it... Unless you're really good at being sneaky, keep the ring with you, and then hide it in the sand or shell really quickly before she noticed

Hmm here's an idea...

Spend the day at the beach at Fort Macon or Cape Lookout. Fort Macon has two parts, the fort and the beach. For Cape Lookout, you take a ferry over and spend the day over there. Afterwards, take her to a nice dinner somewhere.

I would recommend the Watermark, Bistro by the Sea, and Aqua for a romantic dinner. Then just pop the question.

I was just there 2 days ago. Its nice, but I don't know how romantic it is. Maybe I was just slightly turned off by all the construction going on around & how convoluted the path to get there was with roads closed.



This place was gorgeous without being showy. Also its cool that it was a blackbeard hangout.







And it has some symbolism, being NC's first town and all, and still being around.

There were some parts of the fort fisher/kure beach area in NC where there was no one else on the beach that might work for some of these hide the ring ideas, but thats a bit farther south than I think they are planning to go.

The empty beach area I mentioned before was just after these rocks. There is alot of sand & nice beach there, but no lifeguard on duty there either.

Shakelford would be cool to propose on but try Carrot island its right next to shakleford but there are no tourists trip to carrot like shakleford, which means youll have to canoe or rent a boat to take you across the bay to carrot, but youll be completely alone, really quite and romantic, and there are the wild horses on carrot liek shakleford.

reserve a bed & breakfast at Beaufort

go out to dinner one night


watch the sunset soundside, propose on the waterfront

not too expensive, not too flashy... but special either way and much better than at some restaurant

^thats what im thinking about, we are staying on teh soundside and the sun literally sets at the end of the dock! There is a hammock at the end of the dock/pier (174 feet long) and im hoping for a good sunset around the 4th or so, then i thought we might go out for a romantic dinner afterwards.

a nice condo or beach house between emerald isle and atlantic beach is best. beaufort waterfront and morehead city water front is ok, but not the best. shackleford, ocracoke, places like that are good if u set it up on ur own
