I had given up searching for this a while back, but i read on another forum that someone had gotten rid of the searchbar so i started looking again.

To remove the command bar thing

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\CommandBar]

"Enabled"=dword:00000000

To remove the search bar

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions]

"NoSearchBox"=dword:00000001

I dont know how old this is, but i hadn't seen it posted in here and it made my fucking day. So there you go.

It went from this:

To this:

Yes. You can change vista to a "classic theme" that takes the styles out.

thats what vista looks like on a computer that doesn't support the 3d aero theme.

But you can also change it back to the classic windows theme as well.

i don't understand why you'd want to get rid of the search bar
unless of course you can do it in the address bar, but seriously, who uses an address bar that wide

[Edited on June 13, 2007 at 4:47 PM. Reason : wide.]

you've been able to search from the address bar since IE4. The search bar in IE7 is added clutter
