It's not mine, but my company has been retained to provide the financing for this business and all of the equipment pertaining to it. He's asking $265,000. WTF do you think this would actually be worth??? I've already been paid for the retainer but no one (with money or assets) has been interested at this price. All trucks, trailers, karts, 4 riced out 1995 Civics, and all equipment for a mobile driving school/complete and turnkey business. Any idea where to advertise this, besides CL and Ebay???http://www.donswansonracingschool.com

You're probably in a better position to know what the company is worth than anyone here assuming you have access to their financial records. As a CPA my dad had people coming to him all the time to estimate the value of a business. They were usually inexperienced people who were considering dumping their life savings into buying a business that was barely turning a profit if it wasn't losing money. The business owners always fed them some line saying "if you do this the business can make $100k per year" when the reality is that the owner was just selling it because he/she knew it was going to fail.Assuming this company is losing money and has very little goodwill I'd say add up the value of the assets and knock off a substantial amount for the "package" deal with hopes of attracting a buyer that can swing that kind of cash. I didn't spend too much time looking at the website to see what they had.[Edited on June 11, 2007 at 4:23 PM. Reason : s]

He's pretty much exhausted all means of selling this through biz-for-sale sites and the like. I'm not actually helping him sell it, I will just finance the deal once a new owner is found. It's just the actual equipment for sale, like the karts, trucks, etc.Basically, if someone wants this biz and the selling price is $250,000, they're probably going to finance ~$5,500 just for the equipment, plus all the other costs involved-gas, maint., payroll, licenses, etc. Think he'd be better off just parting it out???

sounds like he might not have much choice if no one wants to buy it for that price. He might want to see if there are anyother companies like his and try to sell to them for a lower cost?
