...Yeah so that freaked me the fuck out! I feel like such a fucking moron too.

I was helping my uncle today down at the shore with his 60's Jaguar Mk II, a sweet sedan. It had been sitting all winter, had a flat, and possibly dead battery. While we were pumping up the flat I popped my hood, to prep for a jumpstart. Well the car turned over after a little fiddling on its own, and after that was taken care of I went down to the beach for a few hrs.

Fast forward to after dinner when I left to come back to the city. It was dark so I didn't notice my released hood. After about 10 minutes of driving I got onto the Garden State Pkwy. Got up to about 75 and WHAM!. It flew up, and I had to go over 4 lanes of traffic to the shoulder with no forward vision!

Miraculously I didn't crack my windshield (a good thing b/c its only 9 days old), but my hood is FUCKED UP. It wouldn't close, so I had to beat the fuck out of it with my fist to get it somewhat back into shape and latch it.

And the idiot of the week award goes to...

Time to go out drinking

I almost did that once. After taking the PE exam I was cruising down Hwy 64 and noticed my e-brake pressed one or 2 clicks. What I thought was the brake release was the hood release, but it didn't pop all the way up.

It was my wifes car, so had I had all of my brain power left I should have been able to figure out that e-brake pedals do not have a pull release.

I saw a guy on 440 in a mustang with the hood slammed into the windshield. The roof was all wrinkled up, glass all busted out of the front and the guy was as white as a ghost. That is a big "oh shit" moment right there.

^^lol I know man

I took a hammer wrapped in cloth to it yesterday afternoon and have to say it really doesn't look that bad, you'd never guess thats what happened. I'll take a photo later for everyone's amusement.

that's the car telling you that you haven't been taking care of it like you're supposed to. the hood needed repainting anyway.

that's a gen2 gs-r, man. them things are rare.

^very true. Fading paint...lots of nicks and scratches from asshole drivers/parkers in NYC. There's no point tending to this stuff till I leave the area.
