i'm spending a week in utah, and figured i'd make a thread dedicated to my vehicular activities. i've got a jeep liberty that had a whopping 6 miles when we picked it up from the rental place, lol. still has the blue stuff on the tires. it's going to get a pretty wild break in this week.

the middle canyon area, going up to an overlook area of the kennecott copper mine:

at the top:

at the entrance to the knolls ohv area. motorhome got stuck, then the wrecker got stuck pulling him out. finally the third wrecker got everyone out, lol.

one of the trails in knolls. there were a couple of big sand dunes to play on also. TONS of trails there, but the place was pretty much for atv's only so most of them were to small/narrow for the jeep.

the famous bonneville salt flats. definitely the coolest thing i've done so far. coming into the area just off of i80:

this is at the end of the service road/staging area for the track.

looking out across the flats:

the jeep preparing for it's high speed runs. the track is marked out with a black line and cones. it's 10 miles long.

just about top speed. the thing would only go 105-110. notice the odometer.

a flyby video at top speed:

http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z214/OldFarmMotorsports/Utah/?action=view¤t=000_1006.flv

more to come the rest of the week. hitting up some trails north of salt lake city tomorrow probably, moab later in the week, and whatever else i have time for.

^that's funny you just posted that

because I was about to suggest that someone take a picture of all of Ivan's vehicles in his yard, and make a YTMND set to "It's A Hard Knock Life".

yeah, i like everywhere i've ever been out west (San Antonio/all over south TX, Salt Lake City/Park City area, San Francisco, Napa Valley, San Diego/Coronado/Carlsbad/La Jolla area. getting ready to drive from FL to northwest WA, so i'll see a bunch of it over about a week.)

^^^^^nah, i moved out of the place you're thinking about a couple years ago. it did look like a damn junkyard around there, lol. i've got the fines from the city to prove it also.

i bought a place of a my own about a year ago with a big secluded back yard and a detached garage. i could probably get away with a bunch of stuff sitting around there, but i try to keep everything somewhat organized to keep the city off my ass.

yeah, was expecting Fred and LaMont Sanford to come walking around the corner at any minute at that old place.

I'll never forgot seeing a Miller MIG sitting out in the yard getting rained on.

^not a clue. i'd guess ~180 maybe? it's a 3.7 v6. it's pretty much slow as hell, i do know that.

only a couple garage related type pics the past couple of days, i'll throw them up when i get them uploaded. i've been in idaho/wyoming/montana since tuesday and did ~1k miles, mostly on pavement. a couple of unkept gravel roads, that's about it.

i do have alot of really cool non garage related pics from the past two days though, i'll post a link for anyone that cares when i get them uploaded.

heading out for moab in a few minutes, w00t!

I just got back from a road trip across the country, BBR...we took a few days in Wyoming/Montana, it was pretty awesome. Are you going to see any of Yellowstone Park? Not much vehicular fun there, but the scenery is amazing. People gave us some strange looks when we rode through Yellowstone on sportbikes, lol

aight, i be tdubbin on the highway on the way back from moab. wireless broadband ftw! hell of a day, got ALOT of trails and cool scenery in. i will DEFINITELY be making a return trip there with a built vehicle to tackle all of the "real" trails.

there's not alot out there for stockers, but i made do and got in a couple of 3 rated trails. i went out to some of the 4, 4+, and 5 rated trails just to look. undercarriage of the liberty is pretty angry, and i've got a sidewall threatning to go at any moment.

very cool to have now been to the four wheel drive capital of the world. i'll get some pics up later tonight or tomorrow.

blah, just got a nice present from the ushp only a few miles from getting back to where i'm staying in park city. 70 in a 55. i think that makes about the 9th or 10th different state i've gotten a ticket in. fitting way to end the trip i guess, lol.

Did you get insurance on the rental vehicle? Take that POS to Moab and see what you can break.

uploaded a little teaser while i'm waiting to board the plane. i'll post the rest when i get back to the RAL. really didn't get alot of "good" action pics, i was busy driving and my passengers were busy being lazy and/or screaming at me.

this is from "behind the rocks", a 3 rated trail with some optional 4+ obstacles. for reference, this is probably a 2+ obstacle maybe. ratings go up to 5.

a few more garage related pics from moab. ended up doing ~2300 miles total for the week, and a large chunk of it off road.

moab and the surrounding area is absolutely incredible, a 4 wheeler's paradise. i will definitely be towing a more capable vehicle out there at some point in the future to ride all the "real" trails.
