Car has been sitting up for years. I've come to the conclusion that one of two things needs to happen:1. send 'er to the scrap yard (after pulling off all parts of value and selling)2. clean up, get a new hood, and fix floor pans, pan rails. Throw in some new seats and a dash cover and hastily sheetmetal-panel and carpet unsightly interior spots. Drive hell out of it.She was quick as hell in the day for a NA 2.8L, but never reached full potential, as clutch was slipping BADLY before stripdown/tranny rebuild/engine rebuild.Had 3" exhaust back from dual 2" downpipes. All custom fabbed and installed by yours truly. Because I am a god of sorts in that department.

I vote 1
5/23/2007 9:46:51 AM
Thank you for your honest opinion, Dave. Not really what I wanted to hear, but probably the best.Keep 'em coming, you bastards.^^Tcheng...that is worthless as teats on a boar hog.
5/23/2007 9:59:17 AM
I vote 2, because you know you'll regret scrapping it
5/23/2007 10:02:13 AM
2 also because of what mop said
5/23/2007 10:13:37 AM
^ +1 on that
5/23/2007 10:26:41 AM
2 man... Dooo eeet! We'll be in the same boat... I started pulling the engine out of my Corolla last weekend. Going to put a new one in and drive the hell out of it.
5/23/2007 10:40:13 AM
you named yourself after it.... that is obviously love.2 +b00st ]
5/23/2007 11:06:37 AM
My car's name isn't Dan Bliley, though.
5/23/2007 11:27:06 AM
Demo that bitch [Edited on May 23, 2007 at 11:30 AM. Reason : After driving the hell out of it of course]
5/23/2007 11:29:53 AM
I know how much a lot of you bastards like doing the demo thing...but it is against my very nature to destroy shit.I just can't do it. Not intentionally.
5/23/2007 11:49:56 AM
then you can't scrap it either
5/23/2007 11:53:18 AM
drive the hell out of it. don't fix anything but what it needs to run and drive. and spraybomb it
5/23/2007 12:03:15 PM
either sell it and get a Z instead of ZXor make it an import rat rod...nasty suspension, track day and saturday afternoon special.
5/23/2007 12:43:00 PM
Fuck a Z. I like 'em, but I like the ZX better. More room, better electrical system, and my '79 is the lightest of the ZX's...actually lighter than some '78 Z's.The rear suspension isn't as sexy, but it's still IRS, and I know how to make it work. Add to that I have CV halfshafts and 3.90 gears with my R200 diff. And an earlier, close-ratio 5-speed. Still overdrive in 5th, but not as steep.
5/23/2007 12:51:57 PM
fix iti have trouble letting go too
5/23/2007 1:20:59 PM
fix it up and do a twin turbo conversion
5/23/2007 3:59:19 PM
what colter said. it's part of your history y0. i might buy/sell alot of other vehicles, but my ram and duster will never leave until they rot into the ground.[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 4:17 PM. Reason : .]
5/23/2007 4:14:24 PM
fix it, as mentioned youll hate it if you have to let it go.
5/23/2007 4:51:55 PM
Fix it, hell I wouldnt even mind helping, but you are not in the area anymore
5/23/2007 4:55:33 PM
5/23/2007 6:21:58 PM
you know you want to fix it
5/23/2007 6:27:47 PM
I kind of do. But I'd rather pay somebody to do it for me.
5/23/2007 7:50:09 PM
no you don'twell, maybe some of the bitch work/menial tasks
5/23/2007 7:51:58 PM
OPTION TWO.can't be more work than mister two.
5/23/2007 8:29:17 PM
trash it.get something newer, better and in better condition. life is too short to be centered around one thing.[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 9:06 PM. Reason : \]
5/23/2007 9:05:36 PM
ive got an idea, get rid of it and get the car that it is a blatant copy of. ill let tww figure that one out.
5/23/2007 9:55:08 PM
5/24/2007 7:44:27 AM
who the hell needs floor pans anyways? don't blow money on trying to 'restore' it ... just drive it!
5/24/2007 9:39:35 AM
resurrect it. I've done that with a lot of vehicles. As a matter of fact, the old camouflage AMC just got another paint job and it will soon have some washing machine floor pans.
5/25/2007 2:13:18 PM
oh puhhhleeez..../=one's in the museum of modern art and the other is the subject of a thread visited by gearheads who might part one out.[Edited on May 25, 2007 at 2:38 PM. Reason : in]
5/25/2007 2:22:23 PM
my dad has a 2+2 datsun z rusting away in the driveway...hopefully he'll fix it when he retires...
5/25/2007 2:36:10 PM
junk it..sell parts, save up some money, buy something you'll enjoy a lot more instead of spending money you'll never get out of it
5/25/2007 2:50:22 PM
^^^ no, not the XKE, this is what your looking for
5/25/2007 4:16:50 PM
shit, I was thinking XKE too, but...I see what you did there. It could still get very pricey very quickly though. It's still British after all. [Edited on May 25, 2007 at 5:30 PM. Reason : d]
5/25/2007 5:30:26 PM
Hey remember when you said you would have the 'Teg running in time for last year's VIR Holiday Laps? Remember the part about how you can knock it out in a weekend?Just don't take on a project that you can't finish. You are really ADD about this. If you do it, you need to have a plan and you need to stick with it--that means saying no to other projects etc in order to make sure you have time to get shit done.If you do it, you can't go about it in the same way as your other scuttled projects. If it were me, I'd part it and get one in better shape.
5/25/2007 9:11:48 PM
the teg runs niggaaaaaa dan was driving that junk up and down the skreet. needs some finishing work though
5/26/2007 12:22:36 AM
ok but 6 months after it was supposed to be done and a year after he planned to do itthat's my point
5/26/2007 12:43:02 AM
wow, my bad. I've heard the xke/240z inspiration/ripoff argument before and thought that's what you meant. I could see the more legit comparison there...
5/27/2007 8:07:19 AM
well that argument you heard is totally wrong. the xke is quite a bit different than the datsun while the datsun is quite the copy of the GT6
5/27/2007 11:48:21 AM
^I'm certainly not arguing! my post said "/=" and had "one is... other is" language!
5/27/2007 11:52:42 AM
Fuck this shit. This bastard is going to the pile.So is the Teg. I'm tired of even thinking about the damn things.Fact is, I've had it with the whole car scene. There are many more important things for me to think about/worry about than resurrecting a shitpile automobile for which I had some sentimental attachment.
5/28/2007 11:47:40 AM
5/28/2007 12:49:35 PM
x3
5/28/2007 1:01:45 PM
^^, ^^^ I tried with the 330ci (although I never intended to quit--only to take a sabbatical). I think I made it about 2-3 months before I sold it and bought my Evo, planning to do all the bolt-ons until I made the high-11s (pretty easy with the IX, actually).i ended up keeping it stock, but am probably about to take another step back into the car scene in terms of time spent under the hood or on a creeper with the whole 4x4 thing.[Edited on May 28, 2007 at 1:07 PM. Reason : semi-sabbatical, really. i got a 2-door, 5 speed, sport package.]
5/28/2007 1:07:05 PM
i got dibs on the teg! derby car!
5/28/2007 7:38:02 PM
I hate to say...but LKQ got dibs, 'cause they give me a little money. And I could use the money.
5/29/2007 8:35:00 AM
man i'll give you whatever the scrap yard will give you. seriously. can't be any more than $200...?
5/31/2007 4:52:04 PM
Ivan...I can't make you pay for the Teg.
