will let me renew my contract a few days early? I will be out of town the day my contract is up and I don't want to pay $300 for a phone I can get for $70. Think they'd just laugh at me when I ask?[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 7:44 AM. Reason : m]

typically no, especially if you are renewing your contract, because that guarantees them more money. However, if you wait until afterward, you will still be able to pay the same price for the phone, because they will want you to get another contract.

^ Verizon lets you renew your contract and get a new phone at the discount pricing two months before your contract ends also.

Can you get a new phone and activate it from any Verizon store or does it have to be the right area code? When ryan renewed his they had to get a local number before he could do it. I tried to upgrade then with him and they said I'd have to pay full price or wait til June 29th.

I've renewed mine in different states, you ought to be fine. And to the morons who are trolling in chit chat, nobody calls a phone company with a simple question, and do you think they'd actually give her a straight answer? Calling the store and asking would have likely turned into a huge 'I'll put you on hold' fest.
