Ok, so please don't come in this thread trolling and trying to make me feel like shit for giving my cats away. That said:We have two cats that need new homes. My wife had a baby about 6 months ago and the baby is highly allergic to the cats. You may wonder why it took this long for us to get rid of the cats and the fact is simple. Basically, at first we thought she had a cold but when it didn't go away, our daughter's doctor put her through lots of tests and finally figured out what she was allergic to. We tried bathing the cats and keeping the cats away from her but the fact is that they are still causing her allergies to act up. Right now they are locked in our kitchen and not allowed to go anywhere else in the house (and our kitchen is not that big), so I think finding another home would be best.Cat #1 - This kitty is female and is a short-haired tortoise-shell. Her name is Izzy and she is about 2 years old. She has been spayed and just got her current rabies shot last week.Cat #2 - This kitty is male and has long hair and is orange. His name is Sam and he is about 1 1/2 years old. He has been neutered and jus got his current rabies shot last week. These pics are kind of old so if someone really wants to see some recent ones, let me know. I'll dig out my digital camera. To be honest, the only differences in the pictures is that Sam is much bigger now (probably about 10 pounds bigger). I would like for these kitties to go to the same home and for them to have an indoor home. They will come with litterbox, litter, catfood, and water and food dishes, as well as a pet carrier.[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 3:46 PM. Reason : d]

sucks about your situation yo.i'd be rather bummed if my kid were allergic to my pets.
5/25/2007 12:13:27 PM
The cat is quieter than the baby, you should definitely get rid of the baby and keep the cat.
5/25/2007 1:45:42 PM
^haha i second that
5/25/2007 3:39:04 PM
just wondering what the status on the cats is. i left a PM last wednesday but haven't heard anything.
5/27/2007 1:49:11 PM
sorry I have been out of touch with this thread...I have someone coming to look at the cats on Tuesday...I will update everyone after they leave...and Spike, I'm sorry I haven't responded to your PM...but to answer your questions...they have been with eachother since Izzy was about 7 months and Sam was about 6 weeks. They are very very close. We had another cat also before and they got along great. We also fostered a kitten last fall and they adjusted very quickly to him. I will try and get you some recent pics soon.

I think they're still looking for a home...the person who looked at them on Tuesday was supossed to call me back but hasn't...I'm giving her until Sunday and then they're up again for adoption.

Terrible Same thing happened to my cousin. They had three cats, reduced the number to one and their son was fine after that. I'm allergic to cats myself or I'd take em. Hope you can find a good home for them!

i think this is a valid reason to seek a new homes for your pets. good luck. i would at least try family and friends first.
8/6/2007 2:54:00 PM
might be interested in one of them, can you provide documentation on their vaccinations?
8/6/2007 4:05:56 PM
Yes, I can provide documentation, but I am trying to find a home for both of them together.
8/6/2007 10:10:52 PM
have they ever been around dogs?
8/7/2007 12:05:19 AM
you should try the pet section of Craigslist... that would reach a wider demographic and probably find some interested people because they really are cute cats. A lot of people hit Craigslist daily.. I would highly recommend that.
8/7/2007 1:11:14 AM
^^no, they haven't been around dogs...they're the only pets we have except a couple of fish.^and thanks, I'll try that.
8/7/2007 8:39:26 AM
God, orange cats are so damn cool. I have two (see my pic gallery) that we love a ton, and that picture you have has me so damn tempted for a trio.then again, you dont want to seperate them do ya?For all those prospective adopters, ORANGE KITTIES ARE THE SHIT. They are like dogs, very great attitudes.

You can email cat rescues and see if they will courtesy list the cats for you. I think you are doing the right thing by trying to find them homes instead of dumping them at the shelter. You can also put flyers up at vet hospitals. One of the (many) reasons why I don't want kids, is b/c knowing my luck they would be allergic to animals.good luck...
8/8/2007 6:05:19 PM
I'm interested in the female cat. I would need you to deliver her though because I don't have a car right now. I stay at University Woods. Just PM me with some details.
8/8/2007 6:30:32 PM
bump
8/9/2007 9:02:09 AM
uh oh. we have a renegade on our hands. U Woods doesn't allow cats. I'm right across the street in Village.
8/9/2007 9:05:52 AM
Ok I may have to end up giving the cats to seperate homes. I hate to do this, but my daughters allergies are acting up pretty heavily and our doctor says it is probably because they are in the kitchen and, because of this, she is still being exposed to their allergens. I have a prospective home for Izzy, but I am still waiting to hear back so I will update when I hear back. I still need a home for Sam. Whoever takes Sam is probably going to need to take a lot of time up with him in the beginning. He is pretty attached to my wife and is a fairly sensitive kitty. He gets scared when places in new situation and new places. It is going to take a lot of cuddles and attention to get him to bond with you and not be scared. However, once you get him to trust you, he is one of the most loveable kitties I have ever met. That said, is anyone interested in Sam?[Edited on August 9, 2007 at 12:28 PM. Reason : s]

hershculez, i rent from a private owner so i can have one if i wanted to. So is Izzy not available anymore?
8/9/2007 4:35:53 PM
As of right now, no. Someone else PMed me a few days ago about her. I originally told them no because they only wanted her, but things have changed so they said they still want her seperately if I can find someone to take Sam.
8/9/2007 6:38:47 PM
I am meeting a couple who is taking Izzy this morning...anyone want Sam? I am going to be in Cary and if someone wants him I could drop him off while I'm over there. However, I'm leaving in about 45 minutes, so if you want him, speak now if you want him brought to you.
