Hey peoples,Got a quick question for yas. My Girlfriend has a 2003 Honda S2000 that seems to be making a funny noise. It has 49+K miles and has been taken care of (regular oil changes and stuff). It seems to be making a noise from the engine that sounds like a card (like from a deck of cards) in the spokes of a bicylcle rim. It is very quick and is only when the engine is warm and giving it gas. Sounds like it is coming from the engine block itself. Not sure what might make that noise. She was low on oil for a little while, but have since added some oil and am about to do the oil change. Only ran synthetic oil and only used Honda oil filters. If anyone knows what might be going on I would appreciate any help. Thanks

you need to change the blinker fluid.
5/19/2007 1:16:37 PM
no its either the 710 fluid in the engine or the muffler bearings are rattling.

You'd be better off asking this question on a Honda specific message board. For "shots in the dark", the timing chain thing seems plausible but you obviously can't change that yourself. I'd wager another guess that exhaust gaskets at the head or elsewhere before the cat could be leaking if that's a common thing on S2000s.Much luck.Ahmet

That does sound like it, but it is not that loud or prominent (sp??). It is almost like that but much more muffled.

you're hearing total torque loss. The car just went from barely enough torque to actually move itself to possibly a negative torque rating. SAD

how clever- did the trailer next door tell you that one?

I think the rod knock theory is the sentimental favorite
